European immigrants were sometimes pushed out of their homelands, and other times, came in hope for a better life. The German immigrants, the largest group of European immigrants to come to Texas, came for affordable, fertile land, but they were also forced out of the overpopulated Germany that had become overrun by industry. The Irish came simply for economic opportunities, and because an Irishman by the name of William Kennedy wrote a book encouraging (Texas: The Rise, Progress, and Prospects of the Republic of Texas) immigration to the prosperous Texas. France was also encouraged by a piece of writing- The Republic of Texas’ Treaty with The Kingdom of France, signed in 1840. This treaty communicated the amity between the two countries,

The United States of America was formed through struggles and the want for liberties of its people. For its people to have these liberties, the original colonies created a central government in the form of the constitution. However, the constitution was immensely broad when it came to certain topics. States began to create their own constitutions. These constitutions followed the federal standards set by the United States constitution, yet made different situations in each state clearer and gave specific instructions for certain situations. As times change with the generations, these constitutions are often updated. However, Texas has one of the longest constitutions, which has remained the same since 1876. The current argument surrounding the constitution is whether it is up to date with its amendments or if it should be rewritten.
Government Parties and Catholics The government and the Catholic Church have not always had a great correspondence. Out of the many parties that have been created for the government, through time, the Democrats and the Republicans have taken precedence. The Democrats lean more to the liberal side of things, while the Republicans lean more towards the conservative side. The Democrat party is the oldest existing party, and called the ‘party of the people.’ The Republican Party came into the existence just before the Civil War, mostly because of their stance for the abolition of slavery and their candidate’s win, Abraham Lincoln. Both parties have their pros and cons, and both parties have their problems with the Catholic Church.
First, I will begin by discussing the major and third parties of the Georgia Senate. David Purdue is a republican member to the U.S. Senate from Georgia. Perdue was born in Macon, Georgia and was raised in Warner Robins, where he grew up working in his family farm. Coming from a family of school teachers, Perdue learned the importance of hard work and valued a good education at an early age. Perdue attended Georgia Tech and earned a degree in industrial engineering. Some people asked “Why should I vote for David Perdue?” One of his major concerns was for a nation’s national debt, which is around 17 trillion dollars and is continuing to grow more and more each day. The federal debt is now higher than our entire GDP (Gross Domestic Product.) Perdue’s

Perry is a conservative and has many conservative views. I believe in the same things that he does. I think that Rick Perry would make a good president. He has worked hard to get where he is today and that is good to have in a leader. While serving in Texas, Perry was a good leader and I believe he would be a good leader of this country. We need a president that is hard working. This country needs a president that has a good political background, and very intelligent. Rick Perry is a prime example of a good politician. I think that Rick Perry would be a good candidate for president in 2016. I would definitely vote for Perry. He has made many jobs, cut taxes, and helped with immigration. He has made a huge difference while being governor of Texas, and he could make a huge difference as president of the United

No, Governor Quinby was not correct when he stated that Lieutenant Governor Smithers did not have the power to assign the abortion bill to the Health and Safety Committee. The Lt. Gov. has the complete authority in deciding which bill is assigned to which committee because he is the President of the Senate. In the text it says that “by not accepting his committee recommendation he was abdicating his LT. Gov. responsibilities,” however, that is not true because his responsibility as the president of the senate is to assign bills to the committee who he sees best fit. It also states that the LT. Gov. thought that the bill imposed the Governor’s religious beliefs on the people of Texas therefore he thought that the bill was not something he wanted to pass. He assigned it to the Health and Safety committee so that the bill would not pass and that is okay because he has the power to do so.
