The Ride is the story of the heinous and gruesome murder of ten year old, Jeffrey Curley, a case that is familiar to many in the Massachusetts area. The book works its way from the grisly crime to the years afterward. It focuses on the family of Jeffrey, heavily weighted on the life of Cambridge Firefighter Bob Curley, Jeffrey’s father. Charles Jaynes and Salvatore Sicari, both from Jeffrey’s neighborhood were convicted of the murder. Within this essay I will demonstrate from The Ride the relationship between reporting and suffering that may have been brought on for the crime victims of this case, the relationship between the victim profiles and the victim family profiles, the role in which the family may have played in the
The book that I chose is called Maximum Ride. Since the chapters are so short I had to read to chapter eight. So far, in the book there is these kids who never known their parents and they were held in a place that they called “The School” where scientists experimented on kids and would try to change their DNA. There was a scientist who felt bad for them and broke them out but they later found out that he was dead. There is 6 kids total who were in the same lab experiment and since they escaped they’ve been wanted since.
In cinema, women are chiefly casted as objects who yearn for the adoration of men. They are expected to fulfill traditional tropes of femininity and to vehemently deny the pursuit of independence. When viewers encounter the trailer of Trainwreck, they are greeted by a woman who patently defies the cinematic criteria of the patriarchy. She is sexually liberated, emotionally unavailable and an established professional. However, upon further examination, it is evident that her life is dictated by the male gaze. While she indulges in sexual relations, she does not receive pleasure. Furthermore, while she happily consumes alcohol, she does so to avoid the state of despair that emerges when she does not. Ultimately, she is not a transgressive figure, as she solely exists to fulfill the mantra that her father instilled in her since her childhood.
For some of us, getting enjoyment from our vehicles goes far beyond what the paved urban playground has to offer. We want a challenge. We want a sense of exploration. We want roads, where instead of signs, the terrain itself sets the speed limit. There’s just something about that sense of accomplishment every time we complete a new trail or obstacle that makes us want more. Everyone who owns an off-road vehicle has their own favorite spot to get away from the concrete jungles. Whether it’s a light, relaxing ride down a dirt trail, or total axel snapping carnage though boulders the size of small busses, there are some destinations you cannot allow yourself to pass up. If off-roading is your hobby of choice, here are the top six off road trails and parks in the United States that should be on your bucket list.

As the Beatles once sang, “I’d like to be under the sea”, and Battery Park in Manhattan has taken to that phrase literally. Unlike the Beatles’ song though, we’re diverging into an underwater garden, not an octopus one. In five days’ time, Battery Park will be introducing an out of this land carousel; fit with glistening giant fish and with color-changing translucent fiberglass, with such features you can’t miss this wondrous carousel. I was drawn to this article due to my fascination with the world below us, so of course I would read about these unique mechanical fishes. This article also attracted my eye due to the fact that this carousel strays from the traditional horse carousels. These fishes unlike most don’t move with the current,
What do you think about when you're on a roller coaster? Do you ever think how you're being pulled up this huge hill or down the hill?
Even though riding the Hammer was one of the worst experience of my life. It taught me that I could do anything if I had courage. I threw up after the ride and screamed the whole way through. However, I was able to ride other roller coasters. From that point on, I gave myself hope and confidence that I could get through anything life threw my way. I knew that if I could get over my anxiety and fear, I would be able to take on the world.

Most people have heard of Nicholas Sparks, an inspiring romance author and the best-selling author of The Notebook and Dear John. On April 10, 2015, Nicholas Sparks’ movie The Longest Ride, a romantic movie, was released (see figure1). Before the movie was released the romance novel The Longest Ride was published on September 17, 2013. The Longest Ride is not a typical Nicholas Sparks movie. There are two love stories being told, but the bull riding helps to bring a refreshing storyline to the movie. Also with the second love story, it exhibits aspects from the 1940s. With all of this, it brings balance to the movie, giving it an ability to reach many people. If you are a fan of romance movies, bull riding, and art, then this is the movie for you. The Longest Ride has become my favorite of Nicholas Sparks’ movies because I enjoyed the overall plot, soundtrack, setting, and actors and actresses.
