John Fitzgerald Kennedy, otherwise known as JFK, was an important figure in the lives of many during the 1960s. Due to this, many works have been written regarding the details of his assassination as well as his legacy. In every piece, a unique perspective of this appalling event is portrayed. The excerpt from the biography, “A Warm, Clear Day in Dallas” by Marta Randall, presents this event in the most concise yet informative manner and is the most compelling piece that portrays the legacy of JFK.

Not only does the holly plant have an association with the Pagan religion, it is also associated with Christianity and it is said to be a representation of revitalization. Christmas is a very well-known Christian holiday and many people don’t know it’s Pagan roots. As I stated beforehand we are first introduced to “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” when they are having a feast for a Christmas celebration. During the time this story was written, pagan traditions started to intertwine with the

There are several Symbols associated with Christmas, Santa Claus, Snow or cold weather, Wreaths, garland , wrapping paper and a Christmas tree. Society does not look at Halloween costumes or a hot sunny day and think of Christmas, although when I noticed that some retailers have Halloween, thanksgiving and Christmas décor out, it does not seem to mesh well. But retailers are showing society these symbols getting them thinking about what’s coming soon.

With the wreaths and Yule logs that come standard with this holiday comes a caring from deep in the hearts of people unbeknownst to them at any other time of the year. At the sight of the Christmas decor and the flames roaring at the hearth, a warmth envelops the heart, one with which no flame, however hot, could compete. We see in our gift-wrap and our greeting cards and our holiday stockings an entirely new persona occupying this world we live in, reprieving us from the daily heartaches we all know as familiar.

Amid the Christmas season, a great many people pay consideration on vacation hues. It is coming upon the holiday season, and one of the things I love to do is decorate my house.
From what I have read in chapters 9 and 10 in the novel Roll of Thunder hear, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor, there is definite difference between how a black man is treated in the South versus in a Northern city like Chicago. First, black men in the north have an income they can live off of. For example, Uncle Hammer is able to buy fancy clothing, shoes and a nice shiny Packard. The Logans (who live in the South) can just barely make do with four sources of income, which come from Big Ma whenever she goes to market, Mama's teaching job, Papa working at the railroad, and the cotton. Next, black men are treated equally as a white man is in the North. The reader sees this when the Berrys get burned out down South, while Uncle Hammer (who lives
First evidence, “It's the most wonderful time of the year”(1; 1,4). This is the theme which is the most wonderful, exciting, happy and amazing time of the year. Second evidence from the song, “There'll be parties for hosting marshmallows for toasting and caroling out in the snow there'll be scary ghost stories and tell of the glories of the Christmas long, long ago”(3,5).This states the fun activities that families do together around the winter time and Christmas season making them enjoyable traditions. Third and last evidence,“They'll be mistletoe going and hearts will be glow when love ones are near”(3,6). This refers to the love spread and given during christmas.
The artwork of Christo and Jeanne-Claude that interests me the most is their piece titled Wrapped Trees. I enjoy how whimsical and mysterious the trees appear in the wrapped fabric. In the picture I have attached, one can see how beautiful the outline of each tree is as the sunlight passes through the fabric. The trees are continuing life on the inside of the material as the spectators view them from the outside. Upon viewing the image I began to ponder the fabric that was wrapped around the trees. The fabric is thin, almost sheer like allowing the outline of most of the branches to be seen. In other pieces similar to this one, Christo and Jeanne-Claude have solid material around trees, which I do not like as much. I think the sheer fabric allows one to see the loveliness of the trees them self, rather than masking the natural beauty of the tree. I chose this work because I love trees and I found the wrapping effect pleasurable to view.
