Have you ever heard of bleeding trees? Have you ever wondered why they bleed? Well, there was once a woman named Rita Greene and she was a Sunday school teacher. She was really holy and always put her religion first. One day her church had a huge event to hopefully get more people to join their church. The event ended at 12 AM in the morning and she and the preacher stayed up until 3 AM in the morning cleaning up the mess left over. Rita walked home as she usually did and took the same path she always took. As she walked, she saw a tree with a weird branch on it. “That’s odd,” she told herself. She didn’t think too much of it until she got closer and closer to the tree.”Oh dear heavenly Lord!” she said a shaky voice once she realizes what it …show more content…
“Rita”, the raspy voice whispered, “ever wondered what it was like to have everything you ever wanted?” “Y-yesss”, Rita said shakily. “If you put me in the holy water you will never know what that is like… think about it, Rita,” it whispered in a scratchy, deep, monotone voice. She mumbled back and forth to the voice. The preacher was still in the church and saw her. He stood there just listening to what she was saying and he decided to walk up to her. “Hey Rita, what are you still doing here? You should go home. You look tired.” he said in a concerned voice. Once asked, she didn’t respond and just walked back home with a blank face and still whispering to herself. “What’s your name?” she asked. The voice replied in a boastful tone “My name is Lopez and I'm the most powerful god in the whole world.” He noticed that she wasn’t the wealthiest person in the world so he took advantage of that and started manipulating her. “Hey Rita, you know I can give you anything you want. Anything in the whole world,” he said. “Oh really?” Rita replied in disbelief. “Yeah,” said Lopez, “and all you have to do is to do a little favor for me.” “and what is that?” Rita answered. “You just have to simply kill someone for me...more specifically, kill a kid,” Lopez said trying to hold back his evil laugh. Rita stood in silence. She couldn’t go through with …show more content…
He told her to dig the boy's body up beside a tree. He told her how deep the hole has to be and what tree to put the body next to. Rita did as she was told and dug the kid up. That same day she got what she asked for, money. After that, she kept killing kids over and over again. Until one day as she was preparing to kill another kid. She heard a voice and it called her, it was a female's voice. She mumbled back and forth with the voice and the voice told her that she was making a big mistake and to just stop while she still can. The voices name was Mahren she was a goddess that wanted to help Rita be a better person. Rita couldn’t take it anymore. One voice told her she was doing the right thing while the other told her she was making a huge mistake. She wanted to end it but didn’t know how to do it. She came to a solution and killed herself with the same knife she used to kill all the other kids. After that, the goddess felt bad for all the kids that died. She wanted them to be alive again and the only way she could do that was by making them into trees. The kids still live up until today and since they are trees they reproduced and increased by the seeds they released. So every time people cut down certain trees, they bleed because the tree is a living child that wants to be

impossible. Although Linda Brent was not able to get her children away from Dr. Flint and his mistreatment, she did not abandon her family to save herself. Instead, she decided to hide in her grandmother, Aunt Martha’s, attic. Several times during Linda’s life she was faced with the choice of fulfilling her desires of being a free woman or putting her family first. She believed that once Dr. Flint noticed that she had escaped to the North, he would be fearful of her children escaping and would sell them. I concur with your conclusion that Linda Riley is both unstructured and determined. One would describe Riley as unorganized because of her blatant inability to form a plan that she can continue for the remainder of college. At first, Riley could not create a plan that allowed her to party and still complete all of her assignments in a timely fashion. Then, she attempts to create a plan, but this did not continue for long because there was too much time for certain subjects and not enough for others. On the other hand, one could also describe Riley as determined because she continuously seeks ways to study until she finds a method that works for her, and she eventually does. Although Riley’s essay shows many different aspects of her personality,
Abstract Aimee Horton and Malcolm Knowles were giants among lifelong learners and had many similarities as well as several contrasts. Their passion was adult learning. Both spent their career passionately facilitating learning for adults while achieving advanced degrees. The two scholars were very similar in their desire that all adults wanted to and could learn. The base of the tree must have been around 30 feet in diameter. The trunk of the tree twisted upwards like a spiraling tornado into massive branches. The tree bloomed with thousands of leaves shifting and swaying in the warm breeze. Allison turned to me and said: “This is where I get grounded; this is where I feel the spirit of my brother. Can you feel it?” I could only nod in agreement, as James, Sheila, and my self stood gap-mouthed at the massive tree. In my mind, I know that I could have never been able to experience something like this on a solitary hike. Allison’s vision had brought us all together to witness the breathtaking magic of Big Albert. Sheila and James agreed with me on this issue, as they felt as if they had been initiated into Allison’s secret world. This sacred tree had brought all of us together in the spiritual majesty of
It all started one normal afternoon after a school day. She was in her room doing her math homework when she heard, “CLANK, CLANK” on the door. It was her mom and dad knocking on the door to her bedroom. She answered, “Come in”, and her mom and dad slowly closed the door and sat on her double sized bed. Ellie then noticed that they were being awfully quiet so she decided to go join them. She sat on her bed and her mom started to whisper to her dad like they had something to tell
end-of-war celebration to that of the 2015 Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage. The cartoon is not so much a protest, but a commemoration of the goals achieved by the gay rights movement (that is not to say that protests are not continuing). The author most heavily expresses his idea through his craft decisions—the focal point being the author’s choice to compare the Court ruling to the ending of World War Ⅱ. The choice to use an iconic photograph that many readers will recognize helps the reader to easily understand what he is trying to say. Additionally, the comparison of the two events demonstrates to the reader how monumental the Supreme Court ruling was, since many Americans know the importance of the end of the war.
In this paper, I’m going to discuss the argument that the famous American anthropologist, Ruth Benedict, has put forth regarding ‘ethical relativism’. Ethical relativism is the theory that holds that morality is relative to the norms and values of one's culture or society. That is, whether an action is classified as right or wrong depends on the moral norms of the society in which it is practiced. The same action may be morally right in one society but be morally wrong in another. For the ethical relativist, there are no universal moral standards -- standards that can be universally applied to
"Mike, you need to learn how to chillax. " Standing in front of me was my sister, she was wearing the dress mom wanted to give to her when she turned eighteen, it was a dress that was the colour of the sky, the dress that belonged to our grandmother. Our grandma used to tell us stories that angels designed the dress and that they are constantly looking over us. I used to believe that story until I decided that there is no reason to believe in God or angels. "I'm sorry, dear sister but a civil war is about to break out soon," I told, her looking her straight in the eyes, "therefore I have no time to chillax.
