For this week’s Journal, I am going to write about Rite Aid Corporation. The Rite Aid is a drugstore chain located a few blocks from where I live. I frequently go to that store to purchase a medicine or some personal care products. Rite Aid has many stores in the East Coast. In 1962, the store was opened with the name Thrift D Discount Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania. As the company grew rapidly, the company incorporated in 1968 and changed its name to Rite Aid Corporation. The company is governed by the Board of Directors. In 1970, the company started to trade on the New York Stock Exchange (https://www.riteaid.com/about-us/our-story).
The company believes that the executives and directors should own the stocks. In order to be a stockholder,
CONTROL- Shareholders do not typically manage the company’s business. Instead a board of directors is elected. The board of directors has direct control over the company. A board member can also be a shareholder.

Although stock implies ownership, few equity investors expect to play a role in running the companies whose shares they buy. Such firms are widely held, and few stockholders have large enough blocks of stock to influence management decisions. In small business, of course, owners usually run their companies.
How important is a "support system" to Rite Aid/Walgreens; there are a few differences between both companies, however, those differences set them apart in policy (Nassar, 2007). In this discussion, we learn how Rite Aid and Walgreens differs in the empowers their staff, secondly, from empirical an eyewitness of a corporate merger and buy up one learns of immediate changes that will be shared in this paper (Nassar, 2007). Lastly, we’ll take a closer look at the support that Walgreens offers their staff management and otherwise (Nassar, 2007).
Common stockholders are the basic owners of a corporation, but few stockholders of large corporations take an active role in management. Instead, they elect the corporation’s board of directors to represent their interests. Board members seldom get involved in the day-to-day management of the company. They establish the basic mission and goals of the corporation and appoint
Alex Grass founded the Rite Aid chain in Scranton, Pennsylvania in September 1962 as a health and beauty store, originally called Thrift D Discount Center. Grass was an attorney and came into retailing on accident. Grass grew up in a family that struggled with money throughout their lives. He grew up during the Depression, so his family went through a lot of tough times. Grass attended The University of Florida Law School and then went on to marry into a wealthy family. Soon he went to work for his father-in-laws grocery distribution company where he served as chairman and chief executive officer. As Grass was working for this company, he noticed the scarcity of health and beauty stores so he decided to open his first store specializing in
My past personal experience would qualify myself as a candidate for the position desired, which a substitute teacher for many reasons. I have been working at the Rite Aid pharmacy for more than two years. I began working as a pharmacy technician then promoted to become a wellness ambassador. A wellness ambassador is an individual that helps a pharmacy manager to booking clinics, increase prescriptions, and promote vaccines on daily basics. My job is mainly based on customer service and reaching out to people in my community. The nature of my job makes every day adventures due to the encountering of new people. Being a sales person has helped to stay positive regardless of situation. I had to develop authoritative skills to take control of some
At this Rite Aid Pharmacy location there are three exits, with one main entrance at the front of the store. The front door to the facility is a motion activated two pane door. The two rear exit doors are metal, swinging outwards with panic bars installed connected to the fire alarm and security alarm. The locks on the front door looks to be a dead bolt lock between the two doors but exact details for any of the entrance or exit doors were not available due to security reasons.
One of the biggest acquisition of the year is the mega-merger between Walgreens and Rite-Aid. In this event, Walgreens acquired Rite-Aid for $17.2 billion split between $9.4 billion in equity ($9 a share representing a 48% premium of the market price) and the rest in debt. This acquisition will not only make Walgreens the largest pharmaceutical chain in the country but will also raise issues with antitrust laws. To further understand this news, we will need to have an overview on Walgreens.
Walgreen Company is the biggest drug retailing chain in the United States. As of December 11, 2013, the company operates 8,582 stores in all 50 states. Walgreens was founded in Chicago, Illinois, in 1901. Walgreens headquarters are in the Chicago suburb of Deerfield, Illinois. In this discussion, we will list and briefly discuss any opportunities to improve the current incentive program with the current situation concerning Rite Aid and Walgreens Boots Alliance merger (Nassar, 2007). The three topic we will look at is as follows; first, staff on call, secondly, a balance of hours, thirdly, lack of incentive to retire with Rite Aid (Nassar, 2007). In this discussion, both Rite Aid and Walgreens are compared (Nassar, 2007). Rite Aid keeps a tight rein on staff, very control hours despite all the work that must be met weekly and all the customers that must be well supported as they enter the stores (Rite Aid, 2018).
I can't remember the last time I visited a Rite Aid, so when I drove by one today, I had to turn around and take a look around. After promising the kids that I'd be right back (that really means pull out your video game devices and have good time). I planned to do a little personal comparison to my local CVS and Wallgreens. My plan was to look around, not shop, but when I found two sister polishes to my Revlon Holo Pearl, I couldn't pass them up. Revlon's top coat effects 'Pink Glaze' and 'Gold Glaze'.
Corporate governance is a set of actions used to handle the relationship between stakeholders by determining and controlling the strategic direction and performance of the organization. Corporate governance major concern is making sure that the strategic decisions are effective and that it paves the way towards strategic competitiveness. (Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson, 2017, p. 310). In today’s corporation, the primary objective of corporate governance is to align top-level manager’s and stakeholders interest. That is why corporate governance is involved when there is a conflict of interest between with the owners, managers, and members of the board of directors (Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson, 2017, p. 310-311).
The principals (the shareholders) have to find ways of ensuring that their agents (the managers) act in their interests.
