Vince’s strong desire to do community activities can be explained by Robert Cialdini’s principle of social proof. Others in the community are participating in a common group activity, accordingly, that can be perceived as the correct action or behavior. Vince likely feels the need to belong, to be accepted, and to be a part of the group.
