Cormier’s book displays the problem of innocence being taken advantage of by evil in the world. The way he demonstrates this is by showing acts of peer pressure particularly in the teenage years, and how this peer pressure can make an good individual into much a much worse individual. The novel shows this by including The Vigils in the story, which were a clique at Trinity who basically ran the school. They would mostly take advantage of the newcomers at Trinity, telling them what to do to supposedly “fit in”. "Criticism on Robert (Edmund) Cormier." DISCovering Authors, Gale, 2003. “...but I’ve never felt better than I did at that moment. And I don’t think I ever will” (425). The story, Payback Time written by Carl Deuker, manages to summarize a couple of months of Mitch True’s life. Mitch is an overweight teenager who desperately tries to make new friends. He is interested journalism and being a school news reporter. Throughout the story Mitch encounters some bullying issues. He constantly gets beat up and made fun of. This scene is confronting as it graphically details his impaired bodily functions. Cormier elucidates Francis’ physical and emotional scars upon returning to Frenchtown. The use of short sentences enhances the direct, intimate narrative voice of Francis which allows readers to feel them listening to his thoughts. Cormier provides a detailed brutal description of the protagonist, which has a great immediate impact and arouses our sympathy.
I recommend “Cryer’s Cross” to my best friend because it is an amazing book. When I first read the book I thought I wouldn’t like it. But now I am in love with the book. The characters really engage me in the book and I think my friend would fall in love with the characters like I did. You can feel all the emotion in the book and I think that is what engaged me the most. You can feel how the character feels and it makes you feel connected to the characters. One of the quotes from the book is “When it is over, We breath and ache like old oak, like peeling birch. One of our lost souls set free. We move, a chess piece in the dark room, cast-iron legs a centimeter at a time, crying out in silent carved graffiti. Calling to our next victim, Our

In Anthony Doerr’s All the Light We Cannot See, the character, Werner Pfennig, can be identified as a hero. Werner was an undersized boy with ears that stick out and hair that was “snowy, milky, [and] chalky (24)”. His image was the Nazi ideal; but his ideas were not. Werner questioned everything and was not appeased by simple solutions. Werner greatly valued the truth, even though he was incredibly impressionable at such a young age. Werner Pfennig can be identified as a hero due to his abnormal childhood as an orphan, his unwilling departure from home, and his bittersweet reward of absolution.
If you had children, how would you treat them? Would you love and care for them with all of your heart like they deserve?(pathos) Mayella Ewell did not get the privilege to be loved and cared for like she deserved. Bob Ewell, her father, was an example of an awful dad, who raped, beat, took the little money he had earned, and used it towards alcohol, instead of buying the necessities for his children. He is a drunk, extremely racist, and on top of all that, a horrible dad, which clearly makes him the worst character from all of the books we have read.

Peeto: What makes you think that the girl wants a skinny yank like you when us real blokes are here? This quote is one of the many examples of the typical “Aussie bloke” that is portrayed in the film, Red Dog. Good morning/afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I am here to suggest the film Red Dog to the Australian film festival. I strongly recommend that the film Red Dog be exemplified in the film festival since it offers a reasonable and truthful depiction of Australia given the films time period. The film like no other nails the acts of mateship, gives an impeccable image of the Australian landscape as well as a fantastic representation of the Aussie male. During the movie a strong connection is created within two main characters which in turn
