In the article, “Water Pollution: A Surefire Story in Your Community,” from IRE Journal, Robert Mcclure, investigates waterways that were supposedly “cleaned up” by the federal government. Factories and large businesses are the main contributors to water pollution in seas and oceans. The Clean Water Act was supposed to help clean oceans and ocean fronts from pollution and polluters, but the act was never initiated. Mcclure mentions that “The result today: Beaches, streams, and bays across the country are not being protected enough for people to safely swim and fish there” (1). He has performed many studies, starting with a Statewide look of investigation of water pollution. In his research, he revealed, “all the factories, sewage treatment plants and other
Coming to college as an adult, we have many expectations and preconceptions of what college will or will not be. The expectations we have can influence our college life for the better or the worse. My experience since starting college has been an interesting one. People have misconceptions about college because they do not know what to expect. After doing some research, I have concluded that there are three major factors that are often misunderstood about college life. The first is the financial aspect of college. Second, is the relationship between the professors and students. Third is time management. These three factors play an important role in why people are afraid to go down the path to college.
College can be very stressful and overwhelming, for the first time, especially when you work a full-time job. This can be very demanding for a college student. College students think the school load will be light, easy, and breeze right through their courses. Therefore, College students should not work full-time jobs and go to school.
Robert Coles defines the word “document” in the eighteenth century as a word that “conveys the act of furnishing such evidence” (Coles, 19). Throughout centuries, the word document expanded from just being on paper to photographs and films. As the word expands, it makes the movie or story have a feeling of authenticity and realistic for its readers. Robert Coles does a good job explaining the difficulty for writers. Writers have difficulty with separating the view of the subject whether it is from their own view or the observers they are writing about. Coles gives the audience examples of authors’ work and gives insight onto their own struggles. The work he writes about gives us information that anyone can take a picture, writing, and recordings
How can a college student not be stressed? College students who balance going to school and working have a high chance of being unsuccessful due to stress, lack of sleep, and financial issues. The responsibilities of taking college courses is a big weight on its own, but taking on a job, doing homework, and balancing personal life on top of that can really push a student to their limits. The key to staying successful through all these responsibilities is to have a time management plan laid out and organized to prevent the student from stressing out and not using their time to its best potential. Many students fail to have a successful time management plan, which is why they become stressed trying to balance everything at once.
Everyone has daily burdens and responsibilities that they would prefer to avoid rather than begin. For college students that burden becomes anything relating to college academics, from homework assignments, to essays due next week, or projects.

Cornell is unique as a university in that it posses the same qualities as its students: youthful, not in its years, but in having a “quality of the imagination, a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the life of ease,” as said by Robert F. Kennedy. The urgency and commitment to others and the endless enthusiasm of adolescence is characterized in Cornell and its students, particularly in the College of Arts and Sciences. In reading about educators like Professor Mettler, who teach the importance of morality in accordance with public policy and in offering programs like Cornell in Washington, one begins to see how the future is built at Cornell. This notion of morally-informed politics and the importance of young people is of both interest and importance to me because I dream of returning politics to the moral standard it was once held at, where politicians are leaders, healers, and inspirations, not material for SNL.
When one walks down the street and ten people cross one’s path, at least one of those people could be suffering from a mental illness that manifests itself as an eating disorder. It almost seems as though it’s too common, as though anyone could suffer from one of these ailments. Ted Leo and the Pharmacists sing the song Me and Mia, and it describes how anyone could suffer from an eating disorder and Ted Leo’s personal story in dealing with this mental illness. Ted Leo’s sings these lyrics in the beginning of the song- “And though, I must have looked half a person to tell the tale in my own version, it was o-o-only then that I felt whole” and is explaining how this is his own story about his association with eating disorders. How he feels he is emotionally incomplete without his eating disorder. Ted Leo uses terms maybe only someone familiar with eating disorders might know,
According to Lupien, McEwan, Gunnar, and Heim (2009), going off to college involves significant adjustments to their daily routines; sleeping and eating habits, time-management skills, and stress levels will be altered in one way or another. First-year students have to adjust to the new school environment, different social settings, and new schedules, all without the help and guidance from their parents, who have been there for them for eighteen years. Over 30% of college freshman report that they feel overwhelmed (Klainberg, Ewing, & Ryan, 2010), where some students even opt to work as they juggle their class and work schedules. Some students work at a job or study harder than others, but they are all trying to get degrees so maybe one day they will have meaningful and significant lives. It is a constant struggle for everyone who is trying desperately to make him or herself into a success. And every college student wants to be involved in society in a positive manner, allowing contribution of their ideals and values to others.
Throughout college, there will always be obstacles that a student will face. Though some students make it through the semester without much trouble, I am not one of those students. It’s not always easy to get through the semester smoothly when you constantly have responsibilities to take care of. I get extremely stressed knowing that I have a big paper due or a math quiz that I need to do well on. If I have various assignments due at the same time, I usually tend to get overwhelmed. I deal with different obstacles on a day to day basis that can impede my success as a college student. Obstacles to my success this semester are poor time management, procrastination, and technological distractions.
