This story focuses on two people waiting at home, not knowing if their sons would return. Living on a farm mile from their local town, the daily newspaper was their only source about the war. I was hoping to create a simply scene illustrating an everyday event before the war to becoming an emotional lifeline. Robert McKay waited outside on the porch for the paperboy, checking his pocket watch for the second time, he walked over to the rocking chair and sat down and slowly began to rock. “The lad is never late” he said out a loud.
