Robert Soderbery was an enterprising entrepreneur who managed the public works department of a private business in Pittsburg, California. Pittsburg was known to have undergone a serious of identities over the years. Initially, Pittsburg was known to be an industrial city encompassed mostly of farms. Pittsburg essentially became a commercial ghost town during the ‘50s and it took recreating the city and building new developments to progress as a city. However, to every positive, there’s a negative. Although Pittsburg was progressing as a city, they were still struggling due to the 1978 tax initiative—Proposition 13—which affected many of Pittsburg’s revenue.
On 10-21-2015 at approximately 0830 hours I Officer Hildebrand and Sgt. Joseph Harris were asked to help locate an individual Richard Ring in regards to the a sexual assault that taken place on Sunday 10-18-2015. Det. Randy Schott identified Richard as a prime suspect from video surveillance of incident in question.
However, the narrative of the national threat continued to work according to Kinsman, to further the criminalization of homosexuality in the legal realm through existing offenses such as gross indecency, and the dangerous sexual offender previously designated as the criminal sexual psychopath (Kinsman, 1995, p.138). Although these offenses existed before the 1960’s they were not as heavily enforced, but the mounting hysteria of Russian spies invading and blackmailing gay men to steal information from the government shaped the way the RCMP, and local police operated. The United States Supreme Court ruled Gerald Gault had been denied several procedural and constitutional rights during his trial in the lower court (Justia US Supreme Court, n.d.). The court found the Juvenile Code of Arizona to be invalid as it allowed the court to have unlimited control over a juvenile, including the ability to remove the child from his parents then place them into a state institution without offering any explanation. The judgment of the court found six specific violations of the Due Process Clause as well as the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution in Gerald Gault’s case.
