If you ever come to the Twin Cities, like most sheep you're going to want to go to the Mall of America. This is fine and I understand this because 1) you've been programmed to and 2) there isn't much else to see in the Twin Cities. Oh yes, I'm sure they'll tell you to see either a Twins or Vikings game. Yes, I'm sure the locals will insist you check out our incredibly mediocre downtowns. And the truly delusional Twin Citians will perhaps fool you into going to the worthless and talentless Walker Art "Museum." But all in all the Twin Cities suck and I cannot recommend you come here for much of anything.
What would you do if you had the chance to get back at someone who has wronged you? Would you do something that could ruin their life or would you turn the other cheek and forgive them and not do anything? In the novel Johnny Tremain, Johnny, a fourteen year-old prideful boy, is an apprentice for a silversmith. He is a hard worker, gifted and clever in the work that he does and holds it over the heads of the two other apprentices. He bosses them around constantly, is always getting on to them for the work they do, do not do, or do not do well enough, and never says a kind word even if they did finally do something right. All in all, Johnny was not pleasant to be around most of the time. When Johnny’s hand is burned, he is forced to find a new way to
Robert Gonzalez misses the theme and point of the novel. The novel is meant to convey the emotions and the hardships of the struggle against a controlling leader, and the life in the Dominican Republic. Some examples of this is when, Minerva finds out that her father was hiding her letters that were from Lio. She gets very upset and drives to her father’s car and runs into the back of it. Another example may be when, Nelson was released by the government and, his mother just starts to break down and cry.
Lou Brock’s famous quote, “show me a guy who’s afraid to look bad, and I’ll show you a guy you can beat every time”, can easily be applied to Silo. Silo is the exact opposite of what Lou Brock is warning everyone not to become. Silo simply does not care what opinions other people form about him, on or off the field, as long as he is winning. When Silo is on the field, he goes to great lengths in order to not look good, but to win football games.
Always Running In the novel Always Running by Luis J. Rodriguez, the main character “Grillo” is trying to find a way to better himself and beat the street and gang life of South Central Los Angeles. The author Luis Rodriguez wrote the book about his childhood and teen years, so he did beat the streets and he also became a famous author. In order to accomplish this goal he had to overcome many obstacles throughout his life. One of the obstacles was school and education.
Regular people in life have polar shifts, either for good or bad. Valentina Cruz had her’s when her boyfriend Emilio tells her her dad is the reason why he killed that person, who wasn’t named in the book. Valentina doesn’t believe Emilio at first until she goes to her dad and asked him. When she finds out her dad did tell Emilion to kill that person, her attitude towards her love ones, even her own boyfriend changes. Valentina’s feelings towards her dad changes the worse more than others.
I’m not going to pretend I know what it’s like to grow up under racial prejudice. I’m not going to pretend I understand any of the struggles people of a different race or ethnicity go through. I’m a white Christian female. I have not gone through the same things that people like Jose has gone through, but he uses many different examples to help connect with people from all walks of life, such as homosexuals, immigrants, Americans, and people with anxiety. Jose Vargas impacts a larger audience by sharing the personal details of his unconventional lifestyle and the help he received as a homosexual undocumented immigrant with anxiety.
The character I chose for Walk Two Moons is Phoebe. Phoebe is an important person because she was Sal’s best friend and caused Sal to feel like Mrs. Cadaver is an evil lunatic. Also, she told Sal to go with her to find the “Lunatic.” Phoebe refuses to admit that her mom left and was not kidnapped by the “Lunatic.” Phoebe is as stubborn as a 100 ton titanium block!
Benny Imura is the main character of the novel, Flesh & Bone. In this novel, it shows the effect of how grief and fighting for survival effects people. It also shows how a person changes when they're out in The Rot & Ruin. Benny and I don't have a lot in common, we were born in very different worlds. Benny believes the only way he and his friends is for him to be like his brother Tom and do everything himself.
must always be aware others are continually learning through observation and strive to make his or her actions worthy of being imitated.
Peeto: What makes you think that the girl wants a skinny yank like you when us real blokes are here? This quote is one of the many examples of the typical “Aussie bloke” that is portrayed in the film, Red Dog. Good morning/afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I am here to suggest the film Red Dog to the Australian film festival. I strongly recommend that the film Red Dog be exemplified in the film festival since it offers a reasonable and truthful depiction of Australia given the films time period. The film like no other nails the acts of mateship, gives an impeccable image of the Australian landscape as well as a fantastic representation of the Aussie male. During the movie a strong connection is created within two main characters which in turn

Being called a monster. Being seemed as a troublemaker. Being alienated by his friends. Being betrayed and hunted by his homies. Violence, hatred, revenge. There are so much things that a sixteen-year-old boy could bear without turning into a gangbanger who always gets in trouble at school for fighting with others and doesn’t care about the consequences. That's Martin Luna: the protagonist of The Fallen that is written by Paul Langan. After his little brother, Heuro, was killed in a gun violence as a resulted in Frankie confliction with other gang, Martin Luna seeks for revenge. It seems like nothing can stops Martin, only until he realizes that revenge is not good solution for hatred, which is also a theme that the Paul Langan shows in the novel The Fallen by using protagonist: Martin Luna.
A cultural product that inspires me is the film trilogy The Lord of the Rings, which was directed by Peter Jackson. This movie gave me inspiration because of how beautiful and well put together the film was. It made me want to be involved with the process of how great films are made. According to Wikipedia, “Jackson knew he wanted to bring the movie to the big screen, and was curious to why nobody decided to do so.” He wanted to take advantage of the new technology, and create a fantasy that was serious and felt real (Wikipedia, 2014). Peter Jackson demonstrates the art and business of the film in many ways, which is culturally inspiring.
Every so often a movie is released with such tense anticipation and glamorous visual art that the public is drawn to this dramatic rendition of life in the theatre. For even just two hours or so, you are put into a different lifestyle. Action, drama or comedy it may be. We are thrust into a different way of thinking. We are forced to learn the characters thoughts and feelings. The hard work and artistic skill that goes into these magnificent films is not an easy thing to mimic. Out of the thousands of movies released worldwide each year only a handful are truly worthy of the label film art. Most of the great movies are either produced by a multi million dollar
