1. Nowadays, with the advancing technologies, robots can perform like humans. Robots can “see”, “hear”, “touch” and “smell” like humans. Also, robots can “think” like humans, including solving problems, studying new things and adapting to new environments. (American Ceramic Society Bulletin 5) Robots, such as rovers, landers and orbiters have done almost all the recent space explorations in the solar system. And they gained a big success in exploring every planet in the solar system and many of their moos. (Mann 1)

Are there robots in the world? Yes there are robots with many jobs and designs. There are beebots, farming robots, even a hitch robot. There are robots in many different countries.

The concept of “robots” has been with humans for a long time. From the “robot-knight” plan of Leonardo da Vinci to the automatons of Jacques de Vaucanson, to the robots created by several robotics companies, people have demonstrated a fascination. The word robot came from the Czech word, “robota” which means “forced labor”. In 1921, writer Karel Capek used it in his play entitled Rossum’s Universal Robots (R.U.R.). The credit for coming up with such term, however, goes to Josef Capek, his brother. Presently, robot means a machine that performs complex actions, similar to humans or other animals; also a machine that can perform repetitive tasks, guided by automatic controls. Could you imagine a world where robots take over the world? People are afraid that in the future, robots will take over the human race like in the movie iRobot. Robots will play a very important role in our future and they are already are.

Robots are in and around our jobs at every moment, many believe these just aid in creating jobs, but they may at one point replace us in even the most specialized of tasks. The current idea that the economy is improving and unemployment is at a relative low may be correct but is highly unstable. A robot is a machine designed to complete or carry out multiple tasks when programmed to do so. Robots play a huge role in discovery, such as Mars Curiosity Rover, that is used to observe Mar’s surface and environment. We have used Robots to study the moons surface to see what it is like and to learn more about space. We use robots today in military by using them to disarm bombs and find enemy locations. Robots will have a positive impact on our future, because robots will help us to discover more in the ocean and space, help us save lives, and aid in the military.

If you think robots are the kind of thing you hear about in science-fiction movies, think again. Right now, all over the world, robots are performing thousands of tasks. They are probing our solar system for signs of life, building cars at the General Motors plants, assembling Oreo cookies for Nabisco and defusing bombs for the SWAT team. As they grow tougher, more mobile, and more intelligent, today’s robots are doing more and more of the things that humans can’t or don’t want to do and in many cases taking away the need for human labor.
