My hometown of Rochester Hills is widely known as one of the best cities in the country. Our city is known for its breathtaking parks, gorgeous shopping centers, and fancy cars. Football games, parades, and fireworks allow the community to gather and socialize. Our public education system is unrivaled, and Rochester students do hot dream of attending college; they expect to. The community is always engaged in football games, parades, and fireworks. Our pretty image serves as a facade that hides what goes on behind the scenes. Almost all my classmates regularly consume alcohol and marijuana, well-aware that their parents will bail them out should they be caught. We bask in privilege that most people will never experience in their lives, and
The battle of Hill 70 was a battle of World War I between the Canadian Corps and five divisions of the German army. Slowly, the Canadian Corps launched it’s attack for Hill 70 at 4:25 am on the 15th of August. The Germans saw this attack and replied back to the Canadians with some defensive fire to try and hold them back from claiming the hill. Hill 70 was captured the first day, but the Germans did not go down without a fight. Despite being one of the hardest battles the Canadian Corps had to fight, it was one of the best victory’s they have received.
“The time is now at hand which must probably determine whether Americans are or be Freemen or Slaves.” -George Washington. It all started on a cold and wintry day in December. Soldiers began to make a winter camp at Valley Forge, about 18 miles west of Philadelphia. In October Washington's army retreated from Boston and New York in October, and just recently had failed in keeping the British out of Philadelphia. Philadelphia is the Forming Nation's Capitol. The army retreated to Valley forge, where they would stay for the next many months. They would stay until they could defeat the British in Philadelphia, in which the British set up base comfortably. I am a 9 month soldier, and my contract ends on March first.
What was once a barren area full of trees and grass was soon a bustling city with over 30,000 people. Buildings and houses were around every corner with signs hanging up everywhere. Many of these signs were secret messages to the residents of Oak Ridge to keep what they saw, heard, and did there a secret. This entire city was built faster than any other and it was all for one reason; to build the most destructive weapon in the world. The atomic bomb.

Growing up in the city of Detroit then moving out to the Suburbs of West Bloomfield is a huge change. In Detroit I became accustomed to my environment. For the most part we were black. Racial issues didn't come up much because of this. While I understood racism and knew that Blacks were a minority throughout the country. I had never felt what it really felt like to be a minority.
I find myself one of George Washington’s soldiers fighting for the rebels at Valley Forge. Valley Forge is a hard place to live and especially fight, but something’s make more of an impact than other things here. One is that our hearts are constantly filled with smoke and our eyes are constantly affected by this. Another is a sickness, we have thousands of men sick here and many have already died. And one of the main things is that we are running very low on meat and quality food and we are eating low protein food. But despite those things I still have a hard decision to make soon I will have to decide to reenlist or not and go home to my family. I believe that I will reenlist for three reasons which are I need to provide for my family and

In days long when many non-whites were racially segregated , and/or discriminated, making a colored community was unthinkable. That was until one man named James Clemens, a freed slave, broke that barrier, and established Longtown Ohio. The uniqueness of the community, though, was that it was a sanctuary for many different races that were unfit for other communities. This was a place where many different races could interact with each other peacefully. If Riverside, or even our country as a whole had this type of ideology, then there is a likelihood that we would all live in harmony, and safety. It's time we take some ideas from Longtown, and apply them to our country/Riverside. An article published by The Washington Post, “ Ohio Town holds rare history: Races
Moreover, Bidil race labeling might actually have undermined the broader goal of increasing racial minorities’ participation in clinical trials (Winickoff and Obasogie, 2008). For instance, by specifying African Americans as the only beneficiaries of BiDil, the same idea could be applied for a special efficacy drug for Whites, “the largest and most lucrative population segment of the United States” (Winickoff and Obasogie,2008). This logic could be used to justify the exclusion of non-Whites from clinical trials. This seems to be what happened in 2006 when Schering-Plough decided to exclude African Americans from the Phase 2 trial of SCH 503034, an investigational hepatitis C protease inhibitor. “Even though African Americans have the highest hepatitis C prevalence of any racial group in the United States, the company excluded this population not for any safety rationale but to boost efficacy numbers” (Winickoff and Obasogie,2008). BiDil, as a race-specific medicine also encourages the trend for other pharmaceutical companies to try and come up with other drugs in order to copy Bidil marketing success.
Who am I? I can think about a million different answers to that question. Everybody has their own story. Who do you see when you look in the mirror. For starters, my full name is Sarah Najah Haddawi. I am Arabic, Muslim, Syrian, those are some of my identifiers. My ethnicity and religion are a big part of who I am and they both play a big part in my life. I make a lot of big decisions based on my culture and its traditions. The reason I am the way I am is all because of my beliefs. My mom chose the name “Sarah” because ever since she was a little girl, she had a doll named Sarah and since then has wanted to name her daughter Sarah. My parents are both from Syria, my mom is actually half Lebanese and half Syrian. I was born in Boston,
