The Cardiovascular System role is to transport blood and lymph throughout the body. The Cardiovascular System is also called the Circulatory System or the Vascular System. The Circulatory System transports hormones, nutrients, oxygen, and immune substance to the tissue and organs of the body. This system is also responsible for getting rid of waste products and carbon dioxide. Another role the system have is equalizing body temperature and helping maintain normal water and electrolyte balance. The Cardiovascular System is made up of three Organs. The heart, blood vessels and blood. The heart is a muscular organ acting as a pump to move all the blood in your body where it needs to go. It pumps five to six liters of blood a minute through your body. The heart is divided into two sides, the right and left. The blood leaving the right side of your heart creates a route to and from the lungs. This is known as the Pulmonary Circulation. The blood leaving the left side of your heart, creates a route to and from the rest of your body which is known as the System Circulation. The Blood Vessels are part of the Circulatory System. It transport the blood throughout the body. There are three major types of blood vessels. Capillaries, Veins and Arteries. Capillaries are the smallest and thinnest blood vessel in the body. It carries blood really close to the cells of the tissues of the body in order to exchange nutrients, waste products and gases. Veins are the large return vessels of
