Organizations are impacted with a myriad of challenges both within the organization and external to the company. While external challenges tend to be out of the control of the enterprise, companies do have an opportunity to affect the impacts felt by those challenges that are internal. Internal challenges can be realized by the number of upper management members retiring, the loss of positions within middle management and the extreme competition to retain top employees. Furthermore, in addition to generation gaps, those within the X and Y generations bring less experience. However, both generations have a drive to move up into leadership positions within corporations desiring faster and more responsiveness than previous generations. These concerns can lead organizations trying to function and fulfill their business objectives with lower levels of leadership and higher demands on workers that include work extended hours and limited available resources. Organizations who take the time to focus on critical areas may discover ways around these challenges and uncover profitable production and exceptional team performance.
