Julius Caesar, a great work by William Shakespeare, has many themes within the play. A theme that is recurring in Julius Caesar is that one’s fate can be changed by one’s free will in life. Life and fate are a big part of how the characters live in Julius Caesar. Cassius makes a statement about men having free will and control of their fate and or destiny, although Caesar says that Life, Fate and Destiny are all already predetermined. Free will has been known to get very many people in trouble in history. One may think that it is their free will to go do something unlawful and that right to entitlement got them in trouble because of their free will. Your fate may not be the best, but the your free will can change your fate from good to bad with one decision.

Fate can be changed for the good or for the bad with one bad decision. One bad decision can change your life or even worse, kill you. This was the case for Caesar, his large ego sealed his fate for good. His master plan was to create a dictatorship for him and his the men that followed after him. One’s sense of entitlement will always hurt one in the long run. Caesar’s sense of entitlement made him think that he was the end all be all of Rome. Caesar thought that Rome was his and only his for his rule only. Once again his ego, sense of entitlement, and free will sealed his life. The conspiracy against Caesar knew that his head would get too big to rule over a city of that size. In the long run Caesar’s death helped the city for the better.
