Obstacles are unavoidable parts of our lives. Obstacles constantly come in the way and slow us down. However, these obstacles should not be viewed as being harmful. They are essential factors in order for one to succeed. They can change the course of one’s life, and encourage one to work harder. Therefore, obstacles can be beneficial. In the novel, Chrysalids, there is a country that detests mutants. Any mutant that is caught will be severely punished and often be killed. However, it turns out that the main character, David Strorm, is a mutant, having a telepathic ability. He tries to conceal this fact, but his identity is eventually revealed. As a result, the police force starts looking for David to arrest him and kill him. In order to survive, David decides to escape the country. By the time David reaches the border, he uses his telepathic ability to attempt contacting any other mutants with the same ability. A woman from a country called “Sealand” …show more content…

When Napoleon was young, he had a dream of becoming a general, and with the help of his father, he was able to get into a prestigious military school. However, Napoleon did not do well in the school in his first year. Noticing that he needed to improve, Napoleon studied hard by himself and with some help from the professors. The following school year, Napoleon’s performance dramatically improved. Because of this, Napoleon got more attention from the professors. Soon, his talent, which was unnoticed before, was acknowledged by the professors, and Napoleon was given a chance to lead an army in a battle in Egypt. He was largely successful in the battle and as a result was given more opportunities. These opportunities eventually lead Napoleon to become the most well-known general in the history.
