In the ongoing topic on weather or not to punish those who’ve been deemed a war criminal in the holocaust, it can be hard to pick a side. One example would be that lots of time has passed, many believe that it is wrong to punish them for something that happened more than 80 years ago. To Kill a Mockingbird is a witty and well-written account of the realities of a “tired old town” (4) where there was “nothing to buy and nothing to buy it with” (4). Purposefully, it comes across not merely an innocently portrayed, yet eye-opening, story of a young girl start to grasp the inequalities of her society. Rather, it is accompanied by recollection of the unfortunate pillars of hate of the places Harper Lee matured in. We now perceive this account as an ‘archaic” and “ancient” recount of some historically frowned upon mindsets in an enthralling atmosphere upon which we pin historical quantities of prejudice, racism and most of all, bigotry. The unfortunate reality is that we look at history in a vacuum and ignore the occurrences of our own times. So although we, like Scout’s teachers teaching about the horrible acts of the Holocaust while being outspokenly racist, are able to analyze social inequalities in other places in time or the world yet refuse to open our eyes to the same prejudice, racism and bigotry today. To instance, when reading To Kill a Mockingbird , we often frown upon citizens for judging “folks” based on their family name and race, although, everyday, some member of our current society, such as police officers and employers, do the same thing and no one bats an eye. On the other hand, The Civil War was America's central event that took the lives of 625,000 people in-exchange for freedom. Both of them included acts of injustice and violence, beliefs of inequality, hatred, and societal changes. These events caused disparity in the society in which live on today.

When many think of the Holocaust as a solely negative experience, and while it may seem easy to write the event off as a dark time in history that seems remote and unlikely to affect us today, there are some positive results, including the lessons that it brings for current and future humanity. The lessons that the Holocaust brings are applicable to every person in the world. While many of these lessons do focus on the negative aspects of the Holocaust, like what circumstances permit such a vast genocide and how many people can die because of widespread racial hatred, there are also those that focus on how some people, in all parts of Europe and throughout the world, retained their good human nature during the Holocaust. For example, what made some gentiles in Europe during that time willing and able to help Jews. Currently, Yad Vashem has recognized 26,513 rescuers throughout the world (Names), and the actual number of rescuers could likely be close to twice that amount (Baron,1). It is important that we analyze the reasons behind these rescuers’ choices to be upstanders instead of bystanders because we can learn about our own motivations when we face decisions between helping others and protecting ourselves, and possibly those we love, from harm. Fulfilling one’s self-interest was a potential motivation for helping Jews that will only be briefly addressed. This type of rescue potentially benefitted both the Jews and the Gentile rescuers; these Gentiles only helped Jews survive because they found personal gain, likely social or economic, in the action (Baron). However, in the situation that existed while rescuing the Jews, most efforts included the high possibility that both the rescuer and the rescued would end up worse off than they had begun with no potential for personal gain on either side. So those rescuers’ motivations are less easily explainable.
Due to the actions throughout the holocaust the Nazis need to be stopped. Starting in 1933 the holocaust is one of the most horrid scenes of WWII. The holocaust had killed six million people by the end of WWII. The Nazis had made the Jews suffer for over 10 years and had half them locked up in camps. The Nazis had kep them locked up for years with no water, no food, and no contact with anyone. They kept a strict watch on prisoners and didn't allow them to do anything. They threw people out of their houses kidnapped people fro mthe jobs all because if a religion they followed and because of a previous war, in which Hitler thought that the Jews were responsible for them losing the economic war during WWI. Hitler was trying to make a master of blued eyed blonde hair pure German people. People who believed him were called Nazis.He also did not like the Jews saying they were “corrupting the German race” (Jones,67). Nazis would take prisoners of war, or Jews, or anyone he needed for experiments, and put them into concentration camps. In these concentration camps the Nazi would do many things to the prisoners to torture, kill, or learn to help their cause. The Nazis conducted cruel experiments on prisoners to help their cause. Some of these experiments included tests involving freezing temperatures, high altitudes, and twins.
The Holocaust was a tragic period in the world where Germans persecuted anyone they felt was inferior to them, mostly Jews. Millions of lives were persecuted for nothing. It has been about 80 years since the Holocaust. Nazi’s who participated in the Holocaust are now almost a decade old. But, that doesn’t exempt them from their crimes. Survivors and souls that have died need justice. Getting older shouldn’t exempt them from the crimes they have committed, if persecution of these criminals isn’t remembered, then it isn’t really justice, and a single person is responsible for their actions they know right from wrong, and they knew what they were doing was wrong.

This is a perfect explanation of the Holocaust seeing that so many innocent people were killed. If they weren’t they inevitably went through a great deal of pain whether it be from the abuse or watching all of their loved ones die. The Holocaust was intolerably devastating for many, tight quarters in all ghettos, and gruesome experiments on twins caused extreme pain for over 3,000 twins (thoughtco.com).
The Holocaust was a time period in which Adolf Hitler was the dictator of Nazi Germany. He prosecuted many Jews because he believed they were the reason World War 1 started, causing the death of 100,000 German soldiers. Because of this, he made sure nearly every Jew was put into concentration camps or killed. Adolf Hitler was a man who wanted everything his way, and because of this he killed innocent people. The Holocaust was one of, if not the worst mass murder in history. The Nazis did one of the most horrifying things you could think of, killing so many innocent people. Many different groups of people other than jews were also victims of this tragic event. Some of those other groups were: LGBTQ individuals, the physically and mentally disabled, slavs, and members of opposing political groups. These groups of people were ripped from their homes and put into concentration camps. The Nazis would either separate them from their family or they would keep them together and they would have to watch the Nazis torture their family and friends. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.” (Uschman 94)That quote is from a nazi war camp survivor, his words echo the attitude of the era, the same attitude that allowed something as awful as the Holocaust to occur with little resistance. However, even after hitler's final solution was thwarted people still suffered. People were left poor,scared, and traumatized. It left governments scrambling to recover control and strength. Known as one of the most horrific events in history, World War II (WW2) caused tremendous adversity and suffering amongst the lives of people across the globe. However, what is most concerning about the war, was what happened behind closed doors, specifically within Germany. The Holocaust is still considered one the worst ethnic cleansing attacks in the world. Although there is an endless amount of research and hard evidence of the Holocaust occurring, certain groups of individuals strongly reject it. Known as “Holocaust Denial”, this conspiracy theory has always been personally intriguing due to several reasons and will be analyzed more thoroughly.
