1:1 – Explain the roles of different agencies in identifying levels of health and disease in communities Public health is the discipline that addresses health and social care at a profession level. This can be national and regional. Public health is therefore different to occupational therapists, physiotherapist etc. as these professionals are individuals led. Public health is concerned with a group of people rather than a one to one. There are different agencies that identify levels of disease in communities: • Local Local agencies provide care for smaller communities. For example, the local accident and emergency department for children in Sheffield is the children’s Hospital, it provides care on a local level. Sheffield Children’s hospital is a trust which covers five main teaching hospitals in Sheffield. According to ("Overview - Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - NHS Choices") Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. The trust provides a full range of local hospital and community services for people in Sheffield, as well as specialist care for patients from further afield. This includes cancer, spinal cord injuries, renal and cardiothoracic services. The Trust also comprises five of Yorkshire’s best known teaching hospitals. These include The Royal Hallamshire Hospital, The Northern General Hospital, Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Weston Park Cancer Hospital and Jessop
