When you think of the roles for men and women in a relationship, what do you think of? Do you see both men and women working full time jobs or do you only see the man working and the wife staying at home? Roles are continuing to change in many ways. People can choose to either get married young or wait until they are older. We get this picture in our head of how our love lives are supposed to be from the media. Some people consider their jobs to be just as important as their relationships.
Expectations of relationship roles of men and women have changed greatly from in the past. Katherine Davis stated, “Wilson and I are fortunate to have a relationship that allows us to be as committed to our professions as we are to each other” (Davis 257). I believe that is the way it is now in the world, both the men and women focusing on their careers. In the past, men were expected to go to work and provide for their families. The women were expected to stay home and take care of the house and the children if they had any. Some people take the same route that Katherine Davis took. She was not necessarily looking for love and she was focused on her career. She then met her fiancé at her summer internship. Back in the day, women were expected to find husbands and have kids as soon as possible. They were unable to just sit around and wait while being occupied by their jobs.
