The presidency was formed in the image of George Washington, with the expectation that the person who would be president be astute, modest, honorable, and unbiased (ushistory.org). Many Americans set very high hopes for the president, with needing a person “who represents all the hopes and dreams of Americans” (ushistory.org). With the Executive Branch were it is the largest branch of the federal government as the president who is both head of also the head of state (Arnold 13).

The president’s job when referring to the Constitution within Article !!, Section 2, Clause I; is the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces of the United States and each state’s militia when the nation has need of it (The Heritage Foundation). Among other constitutional powers and roles of the president is: appointing Supreme Court justices and lower federal court judges, appointing a cabinet of department secretaries and agency heads, negotiating international …show more content…

The President of the United States has a very demanding job. The president working as Chief Executive and Commander-in-Chief, use executive orders to make momentous policy choices, creating and abolishing executive branch agencies, reorganizing administrative and regulatory process, determining how legislation is implemented, and taking action that is permitted within the boundaries of their constitutional or statutory authority (Mayer 4-5). Even within the confines of their executive powers, presidents have been able to legislate policies that goes beyond administrative activity.
