Learning Outcome / Section 1: Understand the specific responsibilities of middle managers in enabling an organisation to achieve its goals
After reading this book, I realized that I already use a lot of the things that Focazio focuses on. I decided I would use this assignment to reveal what I do when I’m not being a fulltime student. Since I can remember, I was raised to be a super hero. I was raised in a life where magic wasn’t a myth and extraordinary powers were a common everyday thing. I decided to go through things in the book I liked a lot and relate them to things I’ve learned from becoming the hero that I am today. I’ll begin with Focazio’s first of the three keys to unlock the problem of job dissatisfaction. You have to have fun to become successful. Being a superhero isn’t all the hype it’s made up to be. There is a lot of hard work that goes into training

Understand the specific responsibilities of middle managers in enabling and organisation to achieve its goals
This project was the assignment of MGMT:2100 I took last semester. I was working as the manger for the project. My duties were the creation of project schedule, the job assignment, the leadership of our group meeting. Whenever I was performing these duties, I encouraged them to voice their opinions first and then made decisions that everyone were satisfied with. To ensure that everyone is on right track, I sent reminders and the meeting materials to them prior to our team meeting. I was also responsible for a part of the writing and the revise of final draft.
To manage the business, one must have a good experience and relevant qualification. The right qualification one must have is an MBA in order to have the right understanding and knowledge you must require. And experience is one thing that will come after a good investment of time in learning and development (miller, 2011).
Management training consists of courses which helps managers to be organized to deal in situations an example for this is observing employees and projects. Many businesses offer this type of training themselves; it can be done in two types of ways workshops and seminars. The advantage of this is that the manager’s confidence would
Management differs today than it did in the past. In the past, managers were considered “bosses” and their job mostly consisted of giving employees orders, monitoring performance and reprimanding unproductive behavior and misconduct. Many managers still manage employees in such fashion; however, some managers now tend to be more proactive and have changed managerial functions for the betterment of company operations and performance to accomplish organizational goals. Effective management for company success now entails guiding, training, supporting, motivating and coaching employees verses
One of the most overlooked aspects in a business’s, or corporation’s success is its emphasis on management development. Management development is defined as “…the process from which managers learn and improve their skills not only to benefit themselves, but also their employing organizations.” Moreover, whenever a company utilizes its management development skills, it will directly relate to the company’s economic growth along with the company’s environmental well-being.
The four functions of a manager are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. These are key elements that managers must understand to run a successful organization. I will view each concept as well as their roles to acknowledge how these functions have been related to my personal experience in the work environment. Behind the scenes of a manager, they spend an equal amount of time planning so that he or she can successfully achieve the leading and controlling functions. These functions are standard for any industry that is striving to maintain a strong organization. While reviewing this paper, try to think of the four functions as a method that is established to build on each other. The four functions must be performed efficiently, and when done correctly, an organization will reap the accomplishments from a well-defined plan. My own experiences of how the four functions operate illustrates that each role requires a manager to devote time and patience in order to ensure that the main principles are achieved.
Schermerhorn (2015) found based on Fayol’s findings that managers of different levels are given the task of carrying out management functions such as planning, organising, leading and controlling.Cunningham (1979) believed that this was the perception a manager had regarding his job and that the effectiveness of a manager inculcating this in his work is the
In a dynamic economic where change seems very pivotal as we move into the twenty-first century. Acquiring self-development and being self-aware as a manager is very essential in the business environment in order to stand out of a large crowd also gaining competitive advantage in the work place, one needs to continuously develop new learnings in becoming a “knowledge worker” in his or her organisation (Telford, 2006). The higher the level of education of a manager the better the salary he receives .it is very vital at this point to examine the usefulness of self-awareness and self-development and how it adds value to an organisations success also how it creates competitive advantage for an effective manager in the business
Over the past hundred years management has continuously been evolving. There have been a wide range of approaches in how to deal with management or better yet how to improve management functions in our ever changing environment. From as early as 1100 B.C managers have been struggling with the same issues and problems that manager's face today. Modern managers use many of the practices, principles, and techniques developed from earlier concepts and experiences.
Management is one of the most important human activities and has critical impact on life, growth, development or destruction of an organisation. In an organisation, managers with any rank or status should understand their basic duties i.e. maintaining a sustainable conductive environment where people can fulfil their commitments and objectives through collaborative approach. (Akhtar, 2011) A manager is responsible to achieve the business’s goals, visions and objectives by planning, organising, leading and controlling. Dubrin (1994) stated that in every organisation each member of staff must plan, organise, make decisions, and control the resources they need to accomplish the results expected
