Question Do roly polys react more positive to wet dirt with no roly polys or to dry dirt with roly polys? Methods We began by deciding how we wanted to conduct our experiment. We then agreed on using the choice chambers to show whether the roly polys would choose their preferred environment over social factors. To do this on one side of the choice chamber we put the roly poly’s normal environment which is wet dirt and on the other side we put dry dirt with about 5 other roly polys on this side. To make sure these roly polys stayed on the correct side, we decided to use a smaller ruler to block the way out. We would then randomly choose a roly poly to put in the middle of the choice chamber. We gave the roly poly at least 5 minutes to make …show more content…
Three roly polys went straight to their preferred environment and 7 went towards socialization. More roly polys went toward socialization versus a preferred environment (wet dirt). Observation As you can see, most of the roly polys that were randomly selected to be placed in the middle of the choice chamber decide on socialization which were 7 out of the 10 roly polys. The other 3 picked environment over the social environment. Justification My claim states that roly polys prefer socialization factors over favored environmental factors. Three pieces of evidence that support my claim are that 7 of the 10 roly polys selected socialization factors with the unpreferred environment, only 3 of the 10 roly polys chose environment, and roly polys did not chose the controlled group which is the middle of the choice chamber having no dirt or other roly polys. As you can see these results in figure 1, ten replicates were ran during this experiment. We randomized this experiment by choosing different roly polys to be placed in the middle of the choice chamber each …show more content…
One of the reasons previously stated is 7 out of the 10 roly polys selected socialization factors with the unpreferred environment. To support this, Physiological Entomology, "Effects of Group Size on Aggregation against Desiccation in Woodlice (Isopoda: Oniscidea)," (Broly, Devigne, Deneubourg, & Devigne, 2014), states, “Aggregation in terrestrial isopods, a behavior that results in the formation of dense clusters, is readily accepted as a mechanism of resistance to desiccation.” This translated into clumps of roly poly’s performance results in the creation of solid groups and is freely known as a device of conflict to dehydration. This supports my claim because it shows that roly polys will take dehydration and solid groups over their normal
The oxidation number of an atom of any free element is ZERO. Means to say there is only one kind of atom present, no charge.
Put a small amount of water in one side of the choice chamber and make sure it’s not a lot of water.
The purpose of the PGLO lab was to be able to perform a procedure known as a genetic transformation. We used a procedure to transform bacteria with the gene that codes for a Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP). The actual source of the GFP gene that we used in this complicated experiment is the bioluminescent jellyfish Aequorea victoria. This protein causes the jellyfish to glow under a UV light that was provided in the dark. After the transformation procedure, the bacteria showed their newly acquired gene from a jellyfish and produced the fluorescent protein, which as a result, causes it to glow. If the bacteria glowed in the dark, that was the initial sign that the experiment was successful.
The main reason of choosing the stimulus for the lab group was to conduct an experiment to see in which colored light that pill bugs prefer more out of red and blue. If pill bugs went to red more than blue lights, in which means they like bright light more. The pill bug move slowing in red side of the chamber then moves to blues side of chamber, where it return back to red side of the chamber where it stay immobile .The pill bug adapted to red and blue light which show more significant their locomotive movement.
Rubisco is the most abundant protein on earth that is essential for carbon fixation in plants. For the protein to function at its optimal level, it needs to be isolated from the mixture of proteins and in its purest form. The three isolation techniques carried out in this lab are salting out, ion exchange chromatography, and SDS-PAGE. Rubisco will be purer as each technique is conducted and will be in its purest form after the last isolation technique is carried out.
In order to conduct this experiment you will need to know all the major steps. First, you will grab the depression slide and use your eyedropper to collect a single Daphnia and place it in the indentation of the depression slide. Make sure to remove excess water with the corner of your small paper towel. No coverslip will be necessary.
The lab handout provided by the instructor was used as a guideline to conduct this experiment. The only difference was the organism used and data collection period. For this experiment, pill bugs and crickets were utilized. Also, data was collected for a period of 12 minutes.

Box 3.2: Why do it this way? is especially relevant, as it considers an important advantage of the experimental method. Chapter 6: No experiments are discussed in this chapter, however, the essay question requires you to discuss the value of experiments. Consider if there are certain aspects of human behaviour and/or performance that cannot be meaningfully investigated using experiments. What are the alternative methods of studying behaviour? Sections 2 and 3 of Chapter 6 are relevant in this respect.

Everyone has to go through tough events in their life, but to be successful you have to have to persevere and overcome it. In Call Of The Wild Buck went through a lot of struggle, but he was able to persevere and become a great sled dog. However, my dad also went through a lot with his high school football team also, but they overcame all of it and won the state championship. Although they persevered in different ways they both were able to overcome a struggle and be successful. To persevere you must be able to overcome adversity, and Buck and my Dad both did that.
2. (5 pts) List and explain the names and affiliations of the various characters/stakeholders in this story – I’m looking for us to use the story to map out the complexities that are generally associated with solving public health puzzles – the stakeholders you list and explain here should apply to many of the cases we consider going forward.
(1963) bobo doll studies has been discussed to demonstrate that experiments that lack ecological validity still have influential results. Nevertheless, even though the experiment was controlled, and results were valid it is absent of telling whether the children would go on to demonstrate the behaviour in the real world. Subsequently, Skinners (1979) experiments were deliberated to show that ecological validity was deficient, however, the outcome of observing animals learning behaviour in their natural habitat would not have been controlled enough to discover if animals can learn behaviour. Finally, Loftus and Palmer (1974) experiments were considered to show that ecological validity can still be maintained under control conditions but this can affect how participants answer the question. Nevertheless, this is so that ethical issues are not
Berns revealed that group opinion had the potential to change participants’ perceptions of what they saw. In terms of evolution, this makes sense: there is immense survival benefit to living in a community and tremendous disadvantage to going against the group. Clearly, conformity can have extraordinary influence on the actions of individuals within society.
Thanks for letting me know that Angela decided to move forward with someone else. Is there any feedback that she gave to you that you can pass along to me? I'd love to continue to improve on my interview skills and how I can be better. Please keep me in mind for any other positions you feel I might be qualified for at BKV.
