Roman Achievements Many cities have conquered and excelled in many ways, gaining many treasures. One of those cities is Rome, achieving many levels of riches. In my opinion, Rome excelled in civilization by warfare, architecture, and founding fathers. First, the romans gained land and riches by warfare. The roman army achieved world fame by defeating anyone that opposed them. Being almost the most powerful army, they were capable of defeating armies larger then themselves, using the same basic weapons. The roman army was the most advanced of its time, benefiting from the riches that came from conquered territories. The romans used fit and disciplined soldiers, teaching them new techniques almost every new war. These soldiers were relentless
Rome, a powerful state with a powerful army dedicating their lives to winning, they trained fiercely for years and years on end the men didn’t have to enter the military at such a young age but yet they still did, their culture was very Gung-ho can do attitude they fought the good fight and protected their people. Rome was strong and only becoming stronger throughout the years, “Rome stood supreme Mediterranean Sea.” (World History Book, pg. 68) Rome was a strong republic that finally became an empire, the empire grew and grew, and the culture of the Roman Empire is still used today in our own government, the Romans also had very good literature skills
The Roman Empire was, overall, an immensely successful and innovative empire; this success derived from the implementation of the Christianity religion, spreading of Romanization so that Roman subjects were united and had Roman rights, and the economical and technological advancements that flourished under the period of Pax Romana. While these benefited the Roman Empire greatly and made Rome a prosperous civilization, Rome gradually weakened and, conclusively, fell. The eventual and definite decline of Rome was caused by excessive territorial expansion, economic issues, and foreign invasions.
The Western Roman Empire had its light for ____ years, and grew to be the greatest empire of the time. but four major factors contributed to its great downfall. Political issues caused uncivilized actions, economic problems created famine, deadly diseases plagued thousands, and to end it all foreign invaders burned Rome down.
What has led the Romans to having an effective government and an exceptional empire was the great government organization, the superior empire infrastructure, and the powerful army they had.
The Roman Empire was one of the largest and most influential empires in all of history. By 476 AD, it had completely fallen apart, why? The Roman Empire began in 27 BC with the first emperor, Augustus, overseeing it. At the empires greatest extent, it held control of nearly all Europe including areas such as modern day France, Britain, Mesopotamia and North Africa. Its existence inspired a future of empires that would aspire to be just like the Roman Empire. The empire was the economic and religious center of Europe and helped the religion of Christianity grow massively. However, by the year 476 AD, Germanic tribes now controlled Rome. The once dominant empire had been losing its authority due to a number of internal and external pressures.
I think the roman society was very good at meeting the common good wants and needs. They met it with little cost. Also they had government roles such as common defense public services protect rights promote rule of law
Part of current understanding of the Roman Army, especially during the Republic and before, can be concluded from a study of Roman political history. Rome began as a city founded by Romulus after he killed his brother Remus, both descended from Aeneas, who escaped the Sack of Troy of Illiad fame, or so the legend goes. The young city spent the better part of 200 years under the yoke of the Etruscan League, a confederation of Latin Tribes primarily to the east and north of Rome in Central Italy. The Etruscans were in turn fond of trading with the Greeks, not just for wealth, but also for ideas. Until c. 550 BC the Romans did not normally use a state controlled army, but
The Western Roman Empire was one of the greatest Empires of the world. With all of the advances made by them, no one thought, especially them, that their empire would fall. There were many factors to the fall but, the four main factors were horrendous politics, a bad economy, deadly diseases and foreign invaders.
Many aspects of the United States of America can be traced back to roman history. One of these aspects is the main city. Rome was the main city of the Roman Empire and the population back then was once 1.2 million and growing. Just like in the United States there is N.Y. where it is very populated. It also shares the aspect of crime because in both cities it is dangerous to walk around in the streets because of the muggings and robberies that took place all over the cities.
The most important reason for the decline of the Western Roman Empire was the political corruption. Although the decline in morals and values, unemployment, and military spending also contributed to the downfall of Rome, political corruption was the most important reason for the decline of the Western Roman Empire. When the political leaders in any society get lazy and set a poor example, the civilization will decline. According to “Decline of the Western Roman Empire,” “Gradually, the Praetorian Guard gained complete authority to choose the new emperor and in 186 C.E., the army began the practice of selling the throne to the highest bidder. During the next 100 years, Rome had 37 different emperors - 25 of whom were removed
The Roman republic was an ancient form of democracy based on the Plebian assembly and the Senate. The republic was controlled by a senate composed of over 300 senators. The senate was based in Rome. During each assembly, there was an elected president based on popular votes who was expected to moderate the assembly. In accordance with the principle of annuality, the position along with other positions in Ancient Rome could only be held for one term, which was a year, by the same individual. In addition, the position always had two individuals in what was referred to as collegiality (Wiseman, p.10). The principle of collegiality was aimed at ensuring that power within a position was always in check to avoid the rise of a dictatorship. During
Background: Issue: Despite 500 years of complete domination over the Mediterranean and much of Europe, the Roman Western Empire quickly collapsed in the 5th century C.E. Research Question: Why did the Roman Western Empire collapse? Thesis: Likely, the most convincing explanation is that the fall of the Roman Western Empire, was largely determined by the Empire’s economic instability after repeated invasions by Barbarian tribes. Two Areas of Arguments: First, the Empire’s economy was weakened as the government was overexpanding and overspending, which also led to the rise of the Eastern Empire.

and wondered what they were talking about? “ All Roads Lead to Rome” to me means everything we have today for example architecture, engineering, economy, art, culture, religion, government, and law leads back to Rome. Even if you may not know it, the Roman civilization is very important to us today. I think this because Romans invented so many things that helped us and inspired us today in modern day life.
