and wondered what they were talking about? “ All Roads Lead to Rome” to me means everything we have today for example architecture, engineering, economy, art, culture, religion, government, and law leads back to Rome. Even if you may not know it, the Roman civilization is very important to us today. I think this because Romans invented so many things that helped us and inspired us today in modern day life.
An example of modern day people being influenced is the ancient Romans building bridges. In the contributions of rome “The Romans were the ones to build bridges so they could get across waters to fight their enemies in battle.” If the Romans hadn’t built bridges we wouldn’t have any way to get across seas/water besides planes, boats, and helicopters, but some people can’t afford to go on those types of things. This is one of the reasons why the Roman civilization is so

In the contributions of Rome “ There were different religious practices.” Then, all of the Roman citizens were forced to become christian. There were festivals that had still continued. In the festivals there were people who took part and believed in these religions, celebrated them, and did religious activities. Different kinds of religions that we have today has adapted the celebrations. This is another reason why the Roman civilization is so important to us today.
Those are just the three of the many reasons why the Roman civilization is so important to us today. “All Roads Lead to Rome” to me means everything we have today like architecture, engineering, economy, art, culture, religion, government, and law leads back to Rome. If you just think about it, if the Romans hadn’t created all these wonderful things that we use today, where do you think we would be? What do you think we would have today? Everything that we have today, we can thank the Romans
In addition, to the Roman government, the modern world has been influenced by Roman architecture as well. In every country and every state these days you will find roads or some type of paved road system. This derived from early Roman architectures. The Romans were the first to set up a highly advanced concrete road system that would aide in traveling. Although not as sophisticated as today's roads, the concrete used was not much different from what is used today. In fact the Roman constructed roads are still intact today. Along with road
The Ancient Roman Empire left a huge imprint on the world. Its achievements and accomplishments are still used and recognized today. Its vast empire was full of Scholars and Philosophers and many of them created great things. Many of the things they created or improved on are essential to our daily lives and we’d live totally differently if it wasn’t for them. The Romans were responsible for spreading Latin, creating the base for modern law, spreading Christianity, and creating a modern infrastructure.
The Roman leaders found Rome empty and built it into one of the greatest cities of all time. Augustus build a new Forum, with statues of great heroes of Rome, theatres, porticoes, etc. (Document 1). It was called “to be a spectacle from which its is hard to tear yourself away from,” Strabo. Augustus and his men built aqueducts, arches, etc. which are all 21st century items. The government leaders in Rome were always looking out for the safety of the people. There are ancient pictures of Augustus telling the architects to structure all the buildings to stand at least seventy feet high (Document 6). Rome’s people all were permitted to freely gather and bathe. Today we have swimming pools in which all people are allowed to access. Something that has shaped society today, when reflecting back on Roman times, are aqueducts. The Romans received water by using this method of irrigation which was first used in 312 BC. In America and throughout other countries we use irrigation as our water source, a similar source to the aqueducts. Romans used cement to build arches in which water would flow through (aqueducts), today in modern life we still use bridges/arches for many things. Roman architecture is still shown throughout America
To know Rome is to know the Forum, the political, religious, and economic epicenter of the city, and of the streets that lead to and from this, the heart of the city, and stretch to the gates of the city and beyond. The roads, in fact, led all over the roman empire, and were notable for their
To start off, one invention from ancient Rome that still has an effect on the modern world is our Transportation system. Transportation is used a lot it is still used to today for importing and exporting. (doc. 3) Some of us would not even be able to get to school without transportation like roads or subways. I am going to New York. I cannot go if I don’t have transportation like a plane or car. If you did not have transportation you would have to work at home and life would not work properly. As you can see, the transportation system from ancient Rome is still needed in our world today.
With all that was now available to the Romans, building bridges and writing poetry, having a life full of culture, surely the Romans were now unbeatable. With each new ruler came a slight change in government, some of whom wanted to go back to the original system and others clamoring for more sole power over the city and it's
Rome in its glory was one of the most advanced of civilizations in the world. They were able to clearly Provide Public Services. Rome had roads, aqueducts, and even bathhouses. These were all used by the public too. But by far, the greatest among each of these was the aqueducts. A system of pipes and tunnels that has water flowing constantly to the city. This allowed Rome to have plumbing, fountains (used for drinking and decoration),
Ancient Rome has contributed to the development of Western Civilisation. Ancient Rome was a sophisticated country that helped us build up this society that we now live in ? Western Civilisation by lending attributes that have made our world into what it has become. The government of Ancient Rome was (one of) the first to be created. If Romulus had not set down laws and chosen people to govern Rome, we would probably be all living in a very different way now. Also, Ancient Roman architecture has influenced buildings being built today. Lastly, the Ancient Roman language of Latin is the base of most English words.
Was it true that all roads lead to Rome? Many historians say that the Roman Empire was the most outstanding empire in history because they were huge and populated. There were many great leaders in the Roman Empire, but Julius Caesar was one that stood out the most. Caesar installed many progressive changes and military conquests to help Rome thrive. Julius Caesar was the most outstanding emperor and conqueror for the Romans in 100 BCE because he had a strong military, led the Romans to many victories, many people thought different about him, and the other countries were intimidated by his incredible power.
Rome’s religion was one of its largest cultural advancements. The upcoming of the Catholic church was because of Rome. (4) The emperor Constantine, was greatly responsible for this because before he was emperor, practicing the Catholic faith was illegal. Then when Constantine came into power he made it legal (14), he also was responsible for the creation of the Vatican, the most prominent Catholic capitol (15).
Rome was a vast empire. At Rome’s peak the empire stretched nearly 1.7 million square miles and included most of southern Europe. To keep this vast empire organized the romans created a network of roadways or what we would call it today highways. This network would keep the empire connected with information and supplies to all the surrounding colonies and out post. These roadways contributed to the success of Rome’s power in 3 ways, its military force, trade, and communication. The military would serve as protection and expansion of the empire, trade would bring wealth to the nation and become powerful, communication would bring new ideas from the surrounding nations, new concepts and way of thinking. All these aspects when combined created one of the greatest empires known to man.
They Roman’s had made fine roads, constructed well made bridges, had check points and they were fairly well constructed. Some of the bridges are still standing to this day; high, mighty, and sturdy bridges.
Rome is known as a mighty and powerful country throughout the nations. They have massively influenced art and architecture for decades to come. From their weapons to their brave characteristics, they have left their legacy to be remembered..
Before beginning to address the so-called fall of Rome, we must define what it is that we are calling “Rome”. Rome is characterized not just by the city itself, but by the surrounding areas over which it had power, the customs of its people,
can relate to the fact that the Ancient Romans created over 180,000 miles of road connecting all of the empire to the capital of the republic. In the 7th grade history book History Alive! “50,000 miles of road connected Rome with the frontiers of the empire” (which later expanded). The quote might also explain that all paths/activities lead to the middle of things just like the capital itself. As stated in the historybyzim website “This quote is literally true in the days of the Roman Empire when the empire’s roads radiated out of from the capital city, Rome”.This quote is also significant because the roads built were a major source of trade, roads for marches for the legion, communication.
