The primary reason I think caused the fall of Rome was the outside invaders. My reasoning for this is because when they tried to invade Rome, every invasion just kept chiseling away Rome little by little. So Rome weakened in population, and some structure may have been damaged as well. Another reason is the Huns. The Huns were a brutal, savage and barbaric tribe that was one of Rome’s many invaders. The Huns fought relentlessly against Rome with no mercy, which was a big part of the decline of Rome. Another thing is how many countries were attacking Rome all at the same time. I think that was Rome’s biggest struggle in this time. Everyone was at different points attacking from the ocean and by land. This made it hard for Rome’s army to fight
The seemingly unstoppable Roman empire was certain to fall in a matter of time. Even though Rome was majorly affected by external attacks, I feel like the fall was because of the internal decline. The economy and social issues were the key factors that led to the descent of the large empire. A vast amount of their problems came from within the city. Every decision that Rome made had an extensive effect on the city itself and the rest of the world. Many foolish decisions made by terrible emperors weakened the city and eventually cause the many aspects of Roman life to crumble.
They had been pushing since before World War I. The Indians were promised in the 1930’s that they would be granted independence but
The ancient Roman Empire lasted from 500 b.c.e to 500 b.c, around the Mediterranean Sea. The ancient Roman Empire declined because of their military, economic, and political problems. Those three issues were the main causes of the decline of the Roman Empire. One of the causes of the Roman Empire to decline was the military issues such as the enemies they made and the number of people exempt from the army draft.
Rome was falling apart. When people are fighting against themselves, they are being selfish and killing if each other. This is important because they are making the military weak. They do not want to work together anymore. According to Doc B, “Customary armor began to seem heavy since soldiers rarely wore it… asked emperor to set aside breastplates and helmets.”
Legalism made people want to follow all rules to avoid harsh punishments. People also wanted to because they didn’t want to bring dishonor to their family. This led to a stable society because everyone followed laws and stayed in order.
The Roman Empire was, overall, an immensely successful and innovative empire; this success derived from the implementation of the Christianity religion, spreading of Romanization so that Roman subjects were united and had Roman rights, and the economical and technological advancements that flourished under the period of Pax Romana. While these benefited the Roman Empire greatly and made Rome a prosperous civilization, Rome gradually weakened and, conclusively, fell. The eventual and definite decline of Rome was caused by excessive territorial expansion, economic issues, and foreign invasions.
Primarily social and economic factors influenced the downfall of the Roman Empire. External economic forces gradually brought their effects into the empire whilst internally Rome’s social fabric began to degrade. This socio-economic degradation seen in Ancient Rome is likely due to both Rome’s social and economic instability as well as the birth of the Christian faith in the Roman Empire. Part of the downfall of Rome can be attributed to external economic factors such as a lack of conquest and a large influx of slavery from without. Much of Rome’s economy “was fed by plundered wealth and by new markets in the semi-barbaric provinces” (Document 2.)
The Roman Empire was considered the biggest empire. The empire conquered 3 million square miles of land and it managed to do this because of it’s stable government and its military. Rome maintained much of its peace from 27 bc to 180 ad and this era is called Pax Romana which essentially, was the golden age of Rome. However, after Pax Romana, Rome declined from 180 ad to 476 ad. During the declination of Rome empire, the Roman empire was divided into an eastern and a western empire and was controlled by 2 emperors; one in the east and one in the west. Rome did this in order for the emperors to share power and to manage between situations such as war effectively. Since Rome was divided into 2 sections, barbaric groups such as goths, started
There was not any single cause to the fall of Rome. It was many things occurring in succession to each other.
Rome was one of the biggest and strongest empire of medieval times, but fell due to weak leaders and invasions. The Roman Empire was a strong and powerful empire that conquered many lands. The empire started in 753 BCE and later grew into a huge civilization by gaining more and more territory. It later fell from invasions and bad leadership.
When these invasions took place Rome didn't defend themselves properly and thats how these germanic warriors took over the outskirts of Rome. If they hadn't been so prideful and didnt forget about their
From invaders to weak rulers Rome as seen it all, but could they have prevented it? Rome used to have a strong army, and could fight off any invaders, but as time went on everyone in the city became weak. The rulers, army, and citizens all weakened. With basically no ruler and no one to protect Rome, the city had become soft. Some may say that foreign invasion was what caused Rome's decline, but the primary reasons for Rome's decline were their weak military and their political corruption. They made huge mistakes with the military, mistakes such as they got rid of armor and pared drills. Not only did they stop fighting practice, but the emperors didn't care about laws being broken. The ruler and the military were equally weak.
Rome was a very successful empire for a long period of time, Rome had conquered a lot of land and had a powerful army. But everything good has an end to it. Economic disasters, military weakness, and weak leadership were all primary reasons that had led up to the fall or decline of Rome.
What started as one of the most powerful forces, the Roman empire, started taking turns for the worst. The empire slowly fell apart from the inside out as its leaders became weak and corrupt; their military became lazy; and the plague spread, devastating the Roman population. The empire that had conquered anyone around was soon being invaded by everyone.
One of the key reasons the Roman Empire fell was the frequent and merciless barbarian attacks. They pushed more and more people into Rome,That created cramped living conditions in Rome. The people that went into Rome started to destroy and steal crops. It also created a strain on their natural resources. The constant barbarian attacks pushing more people into the Empire, destroing their food supply, and using up natural resource lead to their destruction.
