“Nobody can give wiser advice than yourself,” Roman Philosopher Cicer wrote. You may think that you are always right but people could know more than you sometimes. Everyone has been through some tough times and that person would not want them to experience what they had to go through while you are young and so I think you should listen to other people. First of all, everyone has been through a rough time even if they can not remember any of the mistakes. When my mom was in the 8th grade she got into a bunch of fights, even with the boys. She had to get sent home early a bunch where she got into fights. She told me something like if I do not have anything ice to say do not say anything at all. That has kept me from getting in trouble a
The passage I have chosen to write about is Cincinnatus Saves Rome. The title of the original source is Ab Urbe Condita, or commonly translated as The History of Rome, which was written by Livy. This project, created around 25 BCE, consisted of a series of books in which Roman history was discussed. These books covered historical events dating all the way back to the construction of Rome. This piece represents the perspective of early Romans and was used as an example of what it meant to be a good Roman citizen. During the fifth century BCE, which was when the story of Cincinnatus took place, the Romans were under attack by the Aequi. Rome was in a state of turmoil and Cincinnatus, as a temporary Dictator, was their only hope.
“I found Rome a city of bricks and left it a city of marble.” ~ Augustus Caesar
Tiberius Claudius Nero Caesar Tiberius Claudius Nero Caesar was born in Rome on November 16, 42 BC. Four years after his birth his mother divorced his father and married Octavian.
Emperor Augustus, born Gaius Octavius, on the 23 September, 63 BCE. He was the adoptive nephew of Julius Caesar, and so, inherited a large portion of Julius Caesar’s wealth and property, when Julius Caesar was murdered by members of the Roman senate in 44 BCE. Augustus, using the wealth left to him by Caesar, began his journey to becoming the Roman Empire’s first Emperor. From the age of 18, Augustus masterfully navigated Rome’s political arena, eliminating any who tried to rival him, until finally in 27 BCE, he was finally in full control of the Roman Empire.
Gaius Julius Caesar, 55, passed away March 15, 44 BC in the Portico of Pompey. Born July 13th,100 BC in Rome, he was the son of the late Aurelia Cotta and Gaius Julius Caesar Sr. Caesar was born into a patrician family, the gens Julia, which claimed to be descents of Iulus, son of Trojan prince Aeneas. While his family was very noble, they were not a very influential political family.
Cincinnatus was a very important figure in Rome. He did many things to contribute to Roman history. Although he started as a farmer, he was selected to become consul. He stopped Terentilius, became dictator, and defeated the Aequi; I would’ve laid down my authority just like Cincinnatus. Cincinnatus was consul in 460B.C.
Julius caesar has just come back from slaying an important man to Rome, by the name of pompey. The people of his home are out of work enjoying life as a holiday, or as a day off of work, when they should be working. With these people there are two men who seem to be questioning everyone on why they are off of work, when it is technically not their place to say so or to do so on this day.
Gaius Caesar Germanicus (Caligula) was born on August 31, in the year 12 in Antium, now present day Anzio, Italy. He was the third child of six children born to Germanicus and Agrippina the Elder. Furthermore, Gaius’s great-great-grandfather was Julius Caesar, and his great-grandfather was Augustus. Gaius was close to his father and began to accompany him on military campaigns, at an early age. Gaius wore a uniform as well as a small pair of boots. This traditional act earned the young tot the nickname Caligula (Latin---little boots). He would adorn this nickname for the rest of his life. THESIS
I moved to south east corner of Georgia in little ole Waycross. You probably don't know where that is but imagine dirt roads, mud, bad weather, and alligators and that's where i moved to. I was enrolled in Williams Heights Elementary School and placed in Mrs. Rodgers class but my trouble making days weren't over. I always was messing with my teacher by erasing what she had written on the board or just being defiant. I was so bad that one day i decided to start a food fight in lunch by launching milk cartons like mortars. This sparked the immediate retaliation of the opposing table and since i threw the first milk carton i was the one who got in trouble. When I went to the Principal's office the principal said
Each and every day, people state their opinions whether they are working, attending school, or collaborating at home. Many individuals ask for advice from others to help them make difficult decisions that they could not make on their own. People listen and ask to others for their opinions in order to help themselves grow as a person whether it is about a life situation, politics, or a struggle in their life. Most opinions are worthwhile, but could be different depending on the situation.
Commodus was bred to live like a king but wasn 't born to rule as one. He was the most questionable emperors in the history of Rome. His rise to power is and always will be deliberated. The young emperor inherited the power from his father, Marcus Aurelius, the former emperor of Rome. Commodus was the Roman Emperor from 180 to 192. He also ruled as co-emperor with his father Marcus Aurelius from 177 until his father 's death in 180. He was born one of as the counterparts, though his twin sibling deceased when he was only four years old. He has bestowed the name Commodus in celebration of Marcus Aurelius ' co-emperor, who had formerly owned it.
Background Cicero was one of the greatest orators in Ancient Rome. He was not of noble birth, but in 64 BCE became consul, one of the most powerful offices in the Roman Republic. Cicero's time as consul was difficult, and he successfully prevented an overthrow of the Republic and his own assassination. Once Julius Caesar began to amass more and more personal power, however, he receded from active politics because he believed the ideals of the Republic would be diffused with tyranny. Once Caesar was assassinated, Cicero again became popular but because of his dislike (public and private) of Mark Antony, as Antony's power grew, Cicero's diminished. He was killed in December 43 BCE after being declared an enemy of the Republic.
First of all, other people have experienced other situations than you, and maybe similiar situations. Asking more than one, even two, can help you in similar situations. For example, when my parents separated, I did not know whether to stay with my mom or dad. My cousin Brianna was in a comparable situation, and helped me through it all. In the end, asking another person for advice was a satisfying idea. Asking advice from people in your social circle may give you helpful advice to get through a hardship in your life. Even if your social circle is limited, they know you well enough to help you through a challenging situation. Always ask numerable people for advice because they may have been in a related
For example, your 13 year old best friend. This person will not have that much experience to base their advice on. They don’t know that much about life yet so they may not be able to give you the best advice. On the other hand, if you talk to your grandmother. Your grandmother is probably old enough to know a few things about the problem you are dealing with. She will most likely give you advice based on her lifetime and since she is old, she has experienced many more things that your 13 year old best friend has. As you can see, the life experience is a big factor for when you are asking for
