Romans 14:8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. WOW! Little did I know that Saturday, July 2nd will be the last day that I will speak to my father, while he on his hospital bed and I insisting on him to eat. My father had earlier reported to me that he had no appetite to eat. I was busy explaining to him that food is an essential to healing. My father called my name and said “Ify Nwam, I am tired. I am tired of everything, and I am tired of fighting.” My father was speaking in a very soft voice. I promised my father to hang in there that I will come to visit him soon, but little did I know that he was asking for my permission to transition to glory because he was tired of living and constantly being sick. My friends that was the last conversation I had with my Dad. You see I strongly believed that my father and I were very close so my question is this why didn’t he listen to me? When I pleaded with him to come back to America with me last year my father refused and voiced multiple times “I am tired of America and what I do not want is to return home on the back of a plane, let me enjoy my remaining years in my home”. My father left home – Umuezukwe for America as a young man with hope of one day coming back to that village to live or share the wealth that he will bring back from America with his community.
