The play Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare is a classic story about two star-crossed lovers. In the play, Romeo tries to court rival clan member Juliet. The couple endures danger, love, and despair. Romeo takes more of an energetic tone and Juliet a more calmer tone. Romeo shows his love by being impulsive and romantic, Juliet is more persuasive and skeptical. Romeo in the play courts Juliet by being impulsive. Romeo says "what shall I swear by" (2.2.112). Romeo is making a verbal contract of love.
