When something happens that is not supposed to, such as a tragic event, or experience, we often look for a scapegoat to put the blame on. That scapegoat can be many different things, such as a Person, or a more abstract matter such as time. In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, we find that the setting of the play brings us two families whose enmity for each other will eventually lead to the deaths of the beloved characters of Romeo and Juliet. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, published in 1597, is widely considered to be the greatest love story in all of Literature. Along with the characters Romeo and Juliet. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a love story about two “star-crossed lovers whose love for each other leads them to kill themselves. Although we tend to blame the deaths of Romeo and Juliet on their fickle and irresponsible behavior, there is one character who I believe is ultimately responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. If the Friar had not given Juliet the Potion or married Romeo and Juliet, it would not have prompted Romeo to kill himself, in the tomb where Juliet was in comatose, or Juliet to kill herself after she found Romeo dead right beside her. If the Friar had gone to the Families in the first place, after knowing that Romeo and Juliet wanted to be married, perhaps the families would have listened to him, as the Friar is a Man of God.
