Is Romeo and Juliet is it still relevant in today’s society? The answer is obliviously yes. Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare in 1564. Even though, many would say that Romeo and Juliet are no longer relevant, but Romeo and Juliet are still very much relevant in todays society as it was back then. Romeo and Juliet is still relevant because love, suicide over love, and rivalry’s are still very much a ting now just like back then.

Overall Romeo and Juliet is a relevant piece of work for people in modern times because it teaches people consequences for very extreme situations and bad decisions. It shows how powerful love is, like when both Romeo and Juliet kill themselves because they can not live without each other. It also teaches how common suicide is, and how most kids rely on suicide as the next step when they think they have nothing left. This is set against a feud between their two families: the Montagues and the Capulets. This feud develops the themes of conflict, deception and dignity in the play. The play includes a lot of themes, love, family, hate, deception and revenge.

“The Story of Romeo and Juliet” is influencing many people in this generation and will continue to influence people for generations to come. This story is an integral part of most high school English curriculum. I believe that we read Romeo and Juliet because it can teach us many different things such as, being loyal because there are a lot of people who are not loyal to their partner; listening to your parents because a lot of teens nowadays do not listen to their parents one bit; and last obey the law and the rules set for you because there are people in this world that do not obey rules and they pay major consequences.

In modern times Romeo and Juliet is irrelevant due to the fact that society has changed. We are more technologically advanced, also social status does not decide to whom a person can marry, and as well as people are not as cultural suppressed as in Shakespeare’s time.
