Over the course of world history, certain people come along who leave an indelible mark on our societal standards. Although they may not realize it at the moment, even the most minute of actions a world leader takes can have a profound impact on the current state of a governing body. In times gone by, people who had power vested in them have squandered it fruitlessly, which, debatably, made a larger impact on the current state of humanity than anything else. Subsequently, every once in a while, a leader comes along that captures the attention of the populace and seizes the power that has been vested in them. These leaders make decisions that are beneficial for every individual in the body being presided over, rather than on their own interests. The United States of America has been graciously fortunate to have been presided over by leaders that could be classified as the greatest in human history. As a matter of fact, one of those noble …show more content…
That man, who has become somewhat of an icon in our nation’s history, possessed an aura and a charisma unlike any other prior president. Not only did this man possess a great deal of charisma, but he possessed a natural ability to draw together large masses of people in times of grief or strife. This charismatic leader was Ronald Reagan, but he would have let you call him Ronnie. It could absolutely be interpreted that Ronald Reagan was such a good leader due to the fact that he was not a career politician who made his living on Capitol Hill. Reagan's economic policies, commonly referred to as “Reaganomics”, were truly something to be marveled at. The policies Reagan enacted and supported brought about substantial improvements in the fiscal and economic state of our citizenry. Some of the aforementioned economic benefits that were brought about include reductions in government spending and
Reagan is considered a strong president because of his Rollback policy, which ended the Cold War. The Cold War was a huge deal back then. Many policy were made to stop this War, but none were successful. Until Reagan’s rollback policy which was more effective undermining the Soviet Union than the previous policies of containment or detente .
Reagan was a kind, easy going, down-to-earth kind of guy which he portrayed through his television and radio talks. Even when he was shot in the chest, he was able to keep a smile on his face and joke with his wife. He was a very confident president and was great at giving Americans what they wanted. But political analysts disliked him for his simplistic view of the world (“Ronald Wilson Reagan”). He was given the name Great Communicator because of his ability to maintain support of the nation, even when his policies were not going well (“Ronald Wilson Reagan”). “Reagan was a hero to much of the American public and a villain and idiot to many political pundits” (“Ronald Wilson Reagan”). Conservatives thought that his administrative style was too easy going (“Ronald Wilson Reagan”). But he was admired by the public for his patriotism, commitment to traditional moral values, and hatred of communism (“Ronald Wilson Reagan”). However Reagan’s legacy is still very
Over many years, many presidents have come and gone. All of them typically have done something to “define” them or something that makes them different or to stand out from all the others. But Ronald Reagan was different. His impact was possibly the most controversial of them all. Some argue that many of the problems in the world today have been caused by him.
Ronald Reagan: Presidential Prodigy Throughout history, many men and women have came to power in order to rule and govern a nation of people. Many have succeeded, but there has also been many failures. In the case of the United States, we have a man or women in power based upon the view of the people. The job of President of the United States is no easy task and few men have been able to successfully stand up to the challenge. Ronald Reagan is one of the greatest president of all time because he implemented personal life characteristics, intense military tactics and geopolitical successes, and instilled a broad feeling of nationalism which set him apart from others before him.
During his presidency there were many moments when he made decisions that would define him as a hero forever. Many of these decisions and policies he made would change the world forever. Ronald Reagan helped end an era of Communism and the Cold War. In his famous "Tear Down This Wall" speech Reagan challenged Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall (Burgan 108-111). This wall was a symbol for Communism and the Cold War, once it was torn down almost everyone saw it as the end of the Cold War and Communism. Furthermore, Reagan ended an era of high nuclear tensions between Russia and the United States. Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev made a plan to reduce their nuclear armaments and eventually eliminate them (Drell). This nuclear disarmament would lead the way for many other countries to decrease their nuclear armaments as well. Lastly Reagan comforted the nation during times of doubt and hardship. Reagan payed his respects to the 17 Americans killed during the attacks on the US embassy in Lebanon (Burgan 82-85). He also addressed the nation after the death of 7 astronauts in the Challenger spacecraft explosion. He showed people that even in times of terror or heartbreak they would stand together as one and get through it. In conclusion Ronald Reagan sought to make peace in the world and succeeded in winning the hearts of millions during his
Thesis Statement: Ronald Reagan’s presidency was one of the most successful in United States history because he revitalized the failing economy, used his remarkable communication skills to reestablish America’s lost morale, and even played a vital role in ending the Cold War.
In conclusion Ronald Reagan was a very influential person in our world. He did what he believed, went after what he wanted, and went past obstacles that he faced. President Reagan wanted America to govern itself. He felt that when some prosper it would trickle down to all. He especially did not believe in big government spending programs. With his less government views
Ronald Reagan was being a courageous person because of all the things he sacrificed for this country. One of my examples of Ronald Reagan being courageous is he had the courage to run a country and led the country to greatness. Most people in america could not handle all that stress and strive the way Ronald Reagan did as the president of the United States. Atticus showed this by being the only lawyer to help Tim Robinson in the court trial. Another way Ronald Reagan show courage is by helping the country through one of the hardest times, the cold war. Ronald Reagan always had to worry about nuclear threats from the USSR and dealt very well with them. Atticus showed this by helping out Tim Robinson and his kids have their head high through
As stated in an article from Newsmakers, Ronald Reagan was known as “the Great Communicator” because he was able to clearly speak to the public due to his unusual experiences before presidency (Newsmakers). Every president of the United States has a unique story, but Reagan possessed many remarkable characteristics. Today, many people recognize Reagan as a former president, but few know about the struggles he faced and his success before presidency; his political party transition, handling economic fluctuation, and his attitude throughout his terms in office made him an unforgettable political figure.
Ronald Reagan, President of the United States from 1981 through 1989, created economic policies throughout his presidency that aimed to pull the United States out of a recession. His policies, called Reaganomics, reduced government spending and reduced tax rates in order to foster economic growth. Reagan also appointed many conservative judges to the Supreme Court and federal courts in order to shift ideologies to the right. Because of this, Reagan was both underrated and overrated as a president.
Ronald Reagan is to this date the oldest serving president, and the effects of his presidency have affected not only the United States of America but most of the world as well. The consensus among historians is that Ronald Reagan left a lasting legacy that was a great one in numerous ways. His Reaganomics improved America’s economy greatly, and secured its future economic prosperity. He also fought communism head on and was able to end it in most parts of the world, but more importantly in Soviet Russia. However, in doing so he got wrapped up in the Iran-Contra Affair, which will forever be tied to his name in a negative regard. Within America, Reagan was able to improve society such as his success in curbing the use of illegal drugs.

When looking for an individual with very clear management styles as well as leadership skills that made a significant impact on both the United States and internationally, the first person that came to mind was Ronald Reagan. Not everyone can be both a manager with the ability to direct successfully and a leader with extraordinary proficiencies, but Reagan had the gift. It is not so hard to find a manager with leadership qualities or to find leaders with effective managerial skills. It takes a mix of the right ingredients to be prize-winning in both areas and this can be found in Ronald Reagan.
