INTRODUCTION The federal republic of Nigeria is in the western part of Africa; its neighbors are chad and Cameroon in the east, Niger in the north while Benin is in the west. Until 1989 the capital of Nigeria was Lagos which is the biggest city in the country, but recently the government changed Abuja as the capital city of Nigeria. It is the thirty second largest country in the world and the 4th largest country in Africa, covering a total area of 923,768 sq. km. There was no country called Nigeria in 1914, but it comprised of four different empires, these empires stretched to some parts of what is outside Nigeria today, parts like present day Ghana and Cameroon. In real sense, the root cause of its existence is the bad state of the government in Nigeria. Their origin is linked to the extreme poverty swimming mostly in the northern region of the state, where most youths are unemployed and people are just living in abject poverty and not saying anything to bring change to the state. According to Mamodu (2014) a top BokoHaram historian, stated that from an interview with the group’s spokesman, he mentioned that Boko Haram’s objective is the application of the sharia law throughout Nigerian state. Through the act of kidnappings, bombings and suicide attacks which are aimed at churches and symbol of the federal government such as the police stations. Also Owolade (2014) argues that the group is not only a threat to Nigeria’s growth development and stability but also to the entire world.
