What really happened in Roswell?
For more than 60 years, the debate between reality and conspiracy has raged on with the concept of aliens in the center(History.com Staff). In Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 what is believed by conspiracy theorists to be a flying saucer was found in a rancher’s sheep pasture. The idea that exterrestrial life could possibly exist may seem out of this world to some. But, to an entire town of people, the idea is not as far fetched.
So, what are aliens? Aliens are exterrestrial beings that allegedly live in outer space and did not originate from Earth. Outer space is incomprehensibly massive. The galaxy in which human beings live is referred to as the Milky Way, and there are an estimated 100 billion planets in that one galaxy alone(SPACE.com Staff). Seth Shostak, an American astronomer and a Senior Astronomer for the SETI Institute, argues, "If we are the only intelligent beings in the galaxy, or for that matter in the universe, then we are truly a miracle." According to SETI.org, The SETI Institute is a research organization whose mission is to

Before the Roswell incident a then top secret task, called Project Mogul, was happening. Project Mogul involved high frequency balloons with the purpose of developing a long distance acoustic detection system to hear if the Soviet Union were detonating atomic bombs. The main site of the launching of the balloons was in Alamogordo Army Airfield in New Mexico. Many people believe the debris was a crashed weather balloon because the materials the rancher saw are similar to those of which the balloons were made. Also, balloons from the secret project plunging to the ground was not uncommon as the balloons regularly fell in random fields Detailed assessments of the weather the day the balloon crashed calculated the balloon was predicted to fly over the exact location it

In 1947 an unidentified flying object crash was reported to the police in Roswell, New Mexico. The name of the person that found it was Mac Brazel and he lived just outside of Roswell, New Mexico(History.com para 1). The object he found look like something out of this world with metallic sticks held together with tape, chunks of plastic and a reflecting surface. After the find Mac called the police and in turn the police called the air base on the outside of town. Then the army came and toke it away in armored trucks then said it was a weather balloon. In the summer of 1947, a rancher in Roswell, New Mexico, by the name of Mac Brazel, discovered unusual occurrences and objects on his property. Some of the things he discovered seemed strange to him because they appeared on his land and he was extremely familiar with every square foot of that land and knew the strange objects didn’t belong to him. What he found included metals, plastics, and foil reflectors, which were held together by tape forming some sort of apparatus. Not knowing what to do, he gathered up the objects and contacted the Roswell Sheriff’s Department. The Sheriff didn’t know what to do with the material either, so he contacted the local U.S. Air Force base in hopes that they could get to the bottom of these unusual disturbances on the Brazel Ranch. This occurrence is known as the “Roswell Incident” and to this day, there are still many unanswered questions about what really went on.

Not knowing what to do with the unfamiliar objects, Brazel reported and turned it into the sheriff. It wasn't until long that the headlines began to read “RAAF captures flying saucer on ranch in Roswell region”. The government quickly turned the rumors down by stating it was a crashed weather balloon. This still did not affect the peoples opinion if what it was, many still believed it was a UFO. This still affects our community till this day, and still no one knows what really was found the summer of 1947.
Conspiracy theories are quite a talk among people. From UFO landings to the questioning of our government and other governments around the world. One of the many popular conspiracy theories that many talk about is the UFO incident of Roswell. To this day people embrace the UFO theory, and still visit the crash site each year. The Roswell incident is one of the most publicized and well-known accounts of a possible UFO crash in the world. Perhaps the greatest evidence that a UFO did indeed crash near Roswell, is the wide scale military cover up that took place after the crash. This along with numerous eyewitness accounts of the crash site, prove that what ever
On July 8th the press released a statement in a local newspaper reporting the event with a headline titled: “RAAF Captures Flying Saucer on Ranch in Roswell Region.” The article contained text as follows:
Ufo and the sightings of Ufos has been talked about for a long time. But with those conversations Area 51 is usually in the middle of it. It's rumored that the government hides ufo items in Area 51. But Ufo or “unidentified flying object”, have been denied by the government for years. But the “Pentagon has officially confirmed that there was, in fact, a $22 million government program to collect and analyze “anomalous aerospace threats” — government-speak for UFOs”(Jr., Cleve R. Wootson). In 1947 a flying saucer crashed into earth. The wreckage and bodies were taken to Area 51 to be tested and experimented on. The wreckage occurred just outside of Roswell New Mexico. Witch is less than two hours away from Area 51 by airplane. The government tried covering it up by saying, “Nearly 50 years after the story of the mysterious debris broke, the U.S. military issued a
People have been claiming alien abductions since the late 1950’s. Disturbing reports of strange beings and painful operations have been around for decades creating a mysterious and disconcerting feeling in people everywhere. Whether we’re talking about greys or Reptilioids, some people are still conflicted about the existence of other intelligent life forms. Cattle mutilations, UFO sightings throughout history, and even UFO and alien images in ancient art all over the world is often common knowledge. Nonbelievers often desperately try to debunk theories and disregarded as conspiracy. Therefore aliens and genuine theory are often written off as myth, fantasy, or made up by crazy people. The real question on everyone’s mind is, what’s the truth?
In 1947 Walter Haut, a public information officer for the Roswell army air field, issued a press release that military personnel had recovered a “flying disc” that had crashed near a ranch near Roswell. However, the Military later informed the public that the object was not a “flying disc”, but a weather balloon. The story was nearly forgotten until the late 1970’s, when UFO researchers began interviewing people affiliated with the Roswell incident, and recovering documents. They came to the conclusion that a UFO did crash at the ranch near Roswell, alien bodies were recovered by the military, and there was a cover up in place. Then books, movies, and television episodes were created that talked about what happened near Roswell, and polls showed that a large number of people believed that an alien spacecraft did crash in Roswell. In response to the allegations made by UFO researchers, the U.S government released a report in 1994 explaining that the weather balloon that crashed in Roswell was from Project Mogul, a top secret military program where microphones were flown on
