Rotary Serving humanity is based off the motto “Service above self”. They focus on the needs of others before they focus on theirs. This motto was inspired in 1911 at the portolan convention. A Rotarian named Arthur Fedrick Sheldon stated, “only the science of right conduct toward others pays. Business is the science of human services. He profits most who serves his fellows best." Which is where the second motto of “he profits most who serves best” came from. However, “Service above self” is more common.
The Rotary Club began because of someone named Paul P. Harris whom decide to call together a meeting of 3 business of downtown Chicago on February 23, 1905. People of diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas, form meaningful friendships and at the

Rotarians dedicate their time and leadership just to be able to provide clean water for children and people they hardly even know, this is what Rotary serving humanity is. Making a change in the world without expecting anything in return. The Rotary club accomplishes great things around the world. It reminds me a lot of National Honor Society because our main focus is to constantly be volunteering and serve others. Last year we began a Veterans assembly to pay our respects to our fellow veteran members. This will become an annual thing, just like the rotary club annually has projects. I know that the rotary club in Yerington has done various projects as well. Because of them, the youth was given an opportunity to join interact, allowing people to participate in community projects. The rotary club will be having a day where people could come and help clean up our cemetery. This is something they have done almost every year and might not always be noticed. Another thing they did was provide a clock for us down on main street. If we need the time we can just lookup as we drive by instead of having to look down at our watch or our stereo. They also built the park by the hospital and bridge street providing a beautiful
Recently, the Junior Civitan Club held a charter ceremony to officially recognize the club as part of Junior Civitan. This was a very momentous occasion for not only members and sponsors of the club, but for the school as well.
JROTC, also known as Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, is a program that is offered in high school, which gives students an introduction to the U.S. Army. The main mission of this program is to motivate young people to become better citizens. This program teaches self-discipline, confidence, and pride in a job well done. It offers many challenges and opportunities which is surely able to increase one’s life skills and leadership skills, such as sharpening your communication skills, strengthen your self-esteem, and improving your physical fitness. Throughout its century-long history, multiple things had changed, while other things stayed the same, but the ROTC program will continue to remain as a promising existence for years to come.
“The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing”, quoted the famous Albert Einstein. Most people don’t care what happens to others who need the help. Luckily, we invented food banks, Wounded Warrior Project, and plenty of other things. I would like to be part of National Junior Honor Society because the very origin of the society came from service. I realize that to be a part of the society, I will need to work hard to get where I want to be.
JROTC has taught me about various value My loyalty was strengthened by eternalizing creeds and applying them to my life. One of the creeds that I memorized was The Junior ROTC Cadet Creed. Part of it says, “I will always practice good citizenship and patriotism.” Citizenship includes community service and at JROTC we have many opportunities to do so. So far, I have been in the Halloween parade, put up flags on 9/11, done flag detail before, and will be helping out and the
I have done my best in school. I have always gotten a grade better than a A- in school. In order to achieve this, I do extra credit when it’s given, go in early to class if I do not understand a concept, and get homework done in a orderly manner.
I think I should be in the Junior Honor Society. I have met the requirements to receive this opportunity. I would not let this opportunity to waste. I care for the community and do what ever service to help it out. I help do services for the library when they need it. For example on March 10,2017, I helped make capes for sick kids and then gave them happy birthday cards for the birthday kids. I help out my community by helping people shovel their driveway. Like some of my neighbors can't do it so I ask if I can do it for them for free. I look out for people to make sure they are ok. I am a captain of a football team because of my great leadership skills that can be useful. I put effort and time into my work. Around the house I am a role model
I would be a good representative for the National Junior Honor Society. I believe this because of two things. The first reason is that I get exceptional grades. I try my best to maintain my average over 95. I do not fret when I get a bad grade. Instead I think of it as an opportunity to try even more on the next test or quiz and a chance to learn from my mistakes. The other reason is because I enjoy helping others. I like to help my fellow classmates with their homework if they do not understand it.
National Honor Society is a nationwide organization for high school students, which was established in 1921 by Principal Edward S. Rynearson. NHS was originally founded on the principles to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote responsibility and leadership, and develop character in students. NHS is a wonderful opportunity for me and I believe that I would be an excellent member able to present valuable contributions to the program.
The characteristics of outstanding scholarship, leadership, character, service and citizen definitely apply to me as an individual. The characteristics of outstanding scholarship apply to me as an individual because I have maintained a 4.0 grade point average for the first two trimesters and will continue to maintain a 4.0 grade point average. The characteristics of excellent citizenship relate to me because I have never gotten suspended, expelled, or a detention and have never had excessive tardiness. Not to mention, I demonstrate participation and involvement in all my classes. I display outstanding character because I show the highest standards of honesty and reliability and I consistently exemplify desirable
I believe that my involvement in the National Junior Honors Society could change my future significantly. It is an outstanding opportunity to develop many skills that can be used in high school, college, and my future career. It will improve my leadership abilities, oral skills, and will give me the chance to work with many other people. I understand how prestigious this program is and I am prepared to be a member of this very beneficial organization.
The National Honor Society is not only a privilege to be a part of, but is an outstanding achievement for the person. To be a member of the National Honor Society, I believe I must have characteristics such as: being a role model and having leadership, superb academic standings, and an overall character that will encourage others. I want to be a member of the National Honor Society because I feel like I qualify for the characteristics I have listed above. As for being a role model and having leadership, I have never been in any kind of trouble, and I am always open to help anyone who needs it, including schoolwork or personal matters. My grades are also up to par with academic standards. I have been on the Honor Roll for as long as I can remember,
I wish to be apart of the National Junior Honors Society because I have always been a determined and hardworking person and being accepted would continue my journey of greatness. In all the activities I have participated in, I don’t ever do it for acknowledgement or respect from others. I do it for my enjoyment and success.
On May 2, 2012, the National Football League lost one of its elite players to suicide: Junior Seau. Seau played for the Chargers, Dolphins, and the Patriots during his professional football career and was a 12-time Pro Bowler before retiring in 2009. Three years after his retirement however, Seau committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest with a gun. This greatly shocked the football world and its image of Junior Seau as a person, but it soon realized the cause for his action. Shortly after Seau’s death, researchers examined Seau’s brain and found that it contained a disease known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy which is formed
In the United States, starting salaries for teachers who have completed a four-year degree are far lower compared to many other professions, which also require a four-year degree. In most states, teachers must undergo testing and other rigorous certification requirements, but they are given the same consideration or status as beginning professionals in other areas. Although attractive incentives are offered, the compensation does not compare to the long hours of work and schooling required for a teaching career.
