7. What special life experiences and/or characteristics would you bring to KU School of Medicine? My upbringing combined with my rigorous academic pursuits and AROTC training has bestowed upon me many qualities that would benefit KU School of Medicine. Both ROTC and the pre-medicine discipline are demanding fields and balancing them has required me to be tenacious and a strong leader who can adapt to everyday's unique needs. The constant relocation of my childhood has taught me to adaptability; a strength that has only grown through military training and my studies. Balancing the two presented many challenges and if hardship teaches anything, it is tenacity. I have been tested both physically and mentally and achieved much as an undergraduate. I look forward to facing new challenges in my future and pushing to greater heights. I've also developed a strong leadership persona. I have learned through experience that I possess charismatic leadership, which naturally draws others to me and gives me the opportunity to inspire and motivate them. I look forward to sharing these with KU. 8. If not included in your AMCAS application, describe your health care …show more content…
During those semesters, I relapsed in my battle with depression. I was originally diagnosed at the age of nine but learned to manage the disease with the proper tools of guidance of professionals. The transition from college to the next step presented me with many new challenges that reignited my triggers. After having the disease in remission for so long, I had forgot how to handle my struggles on a day to day basis, so my academics took a hit. The process of learning to cope, build myself back up, and continue moving forward has been tough but has made more confident in who I am as a person, a student, and as a future
The last semester was a very challenging semester for me emotionally, physically, and mentally. I had recently had a change in my relationship status and was left alone to pay all the bills. The full-time schedule made it difficult for me to pick up hours at work. Being a single mother of three children, this had devastating consequences on my family financially. By mid-semester I was forced to work third shift and weekends to try to compensate for the wages I was losing. This dramatically
My journey across the U.S and ongoing job alongside doctor’s from different countries has made me more culturally diverse and strengthened my ability to be an asset to a team. I am looking forward to working in a program with high-quality training and strong academic curriculum to enhance career prospects and embark on the journey as a responsible
It was my pleasure to interview at the distinguished UC Davis School of Medicine. I enjoyed every single moment of my visit. The sense of community at UCDSOM is heartwarming. I had the privilege to interact with enthusiastic medical students, physicians, and faculty members. The interview day gave me deeper insight into the mission and core values of UC Davis School of Medicine. It also confirmed my passion and fit for the school.
I have cultivated many skills throughout my undergraduate education that I believe will help me succeed throughout medical school. My decision to become a doctor did not happen overnight but was a passion that grew with me and inspired my entire life. I am eager to start my journey at Morehouse College of medicine and become a physician that provides quality treatment and works on improving health care in rural areas and underserved communities in Georgia and across the United
I worked hard during high school, and my commitment and ambition took me to Al-Nahrain University/College of Medicine, the best university in Iraq. Medical school brought its own challenges, while I finished course work as my country suffered from a horrendous war. My focus, though, was solid, and my vision endured the tumult. As I accumulated basic scientific knowledge, I also developed special interests. During clinical rotations, it became clear that I was most
There are many reasons that have directed my decision towards attending Meharry Medical College. One of the most appealing characteristics of the college is the fact that diversity is greatly encouraged among students. Individuals who come from minority groups are treated equally and are fully accommodated to achieve their goals. Students are encouraged to serve others by becoming successful physicians in the community. I believe this is one of the most important values of the school and will allow me to help make a difference in the lives of many patients.
In the Spring 2017 semester, I really buckled down, got every homework assignment and event down on the planner so I knew what each week looked like. The first couple months to about spring break I was going to class and only missed due to some extreme circumstances. But I got over whelmed during the semester, being President of Children of The American Revolution, and active in my sorority, these things took away from my academic
At the start of my second Junior semester, a close friend of mine died in a car accident. This took a toll on me. The grieving period hindered my focus at the beginning of the semester, but I was able to refocus on my tasks (running was a great help), and gradually move forward out of my grief, processing my loss and focusing on my studies. By the end of the second semester I had nearly straight
In ten years I see myself as a budding family physician, and if accepted to Marshall, I have
When planning my pre-medical schedule at the University of Iowa, I found a first year seminar titled “Journey to Medical School.” All of the fears, ambitions, and everything I could think of regarding my journey to medical school was covered in the seminar. I left the class feeling terrified, but more than that, excited and prepared for what was to come within my next 8 years. One of the class periods was filled with the intellect of students who currently attend Carver Medical School. During that class period, I was mesmerized by the way the students carried themselves. They talked with poise and grace. Listening to them talk about how their journey was going made my heart putter – I was terrified, yet excited to continue on my own
What unique qualities or experiences do you possess that would contribute specifically to the NYU School of Medicine community?
Welcome to the Internet Age, in which the world’s globalizing forces are intensified, where the music, literature, and other sources of entertainment of one person’s culture can be accessed at the tap of a keyboard and click of a button by a person of a different culture, where people of one country can be influenced by the music of a different nation through the songs’ message, where a culture of one realm can become similar to the culture of others more quickly than in the past. But in Canada, there is much debate on how much of these foreign media should be shown to us, hence why at the dawn of this Era of The World Wide Web, an agency dedicated to regulating radio-television and telecommunications, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications
What sets me apart from the rest and reveals that I am a strong candidate for admissions to the University of California is my unyielding determination to obtain a career in medicine, specifically a career in dermatology, due to the various, skin problems dermatologists are able to treat and help patients is an expertise I strive to obtain. The history of high academia and prestigious standings throughout the country was also a bit intimidating at first. It was hard for me to think that I could make it amongst tens of thousands of other bright individuals, but I am confident that I am slowly finding my place, my reason for coming to this university. Being able to be amongst some of the smartest individuals in the United States has humbled me immensely. Back home, I was considered the smartest of the smart, earning high honors in all academics. Here, though, I am merely average. But, I am going to be working every day to set myself aside from others by finding the thing that I truly excel in and what makes me special. I cannot wait to begin my courses away from gen-eds, and start specializing in the Kinesiology field. Overall, I know that these ideas will help me find my purpose here at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and what makes me a true badger at heart.
