Running Cross Country
Do I want to join the team or not, do I want to join the team or not. That's what was going through my mind when my mom brought cross country up for the first time. I was going to try out for the soccer team at Middle School South, but I was got sick before the second day of try outs, so I my answer just had to be yes.
Running cross country at MSS was very special. I found my talent for running and was very successful. In my first meet, I was the top sixth grader for MSS, and that was without and practice due to being sick the week before hand. Back then, my mile time was 7:30 minutes about. It was so great because I met many new friends and many old friends were also running too. Everyone would tell me, “OMG
“In running, it doesn’t matter whether you come in first, in the middle or last. You can say, ‘ I finished’ There is a lot of satisfaction in that” - Fred Lebow. I began cross country in eighth grade shortly after my brother joined the year before. He enjoyed it a lot, so I thought it would be fun. I’ve been on the team for two years. I would like to run for the rest of my life. Cross country changed my life positively forever. It taught me to push myself past what I thought was my limit. It revealed to me a great community of people and it taught me to leave my comfort zone.
Cross Country is a team sport and ran by high school and college teams. The teams are divided by gender and have different divisions such as varsity, junior varsity, and freshman/sophomore. Races take place on terrain such as hiking trails, dirt trails, park paths, walking paths, and sometimes roads. The high school races are usually 3.2 miles but can be different distances depending on the course. The winner is decided by what team ran the course the fastest. The individual times are added up and that is the team’s score. Cross Country season is usually August through December in high school. Each high school time usually has a “home course.” Sometimes the course is located at the school but it could also be near the school. Also some courses
Although I had only participated in the school Cross Country team for two years, I felt very connected to the team and wish I had participated my sophomore and freshmen year as well. Over the two seasons, I have made many great friends and learned the importance of working hard to achieve my goals. Throughout my life, my parents have pushed me academically, but never really encouraged me to try hard in sports or physical activities. Cross country filled that void for me and helped me become a more well-rounded person.
I’ve always had a desire for running and when I heard Richland Center High had a Cross Country team, I knew I wanted to be on it! When I did start, it was tough. There were times my sanity would ask, “ WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU
I have gone on a vast amount of trail rides with several different horse. This ride was the first time I had ever taken D. D. (Deanna's Delight) out on one. This trail ride will not ever be able to forget.
I want to accomplish this goal in my twenties before I have a family. I want to backpack around Europe to become closer to nature and appreciate the different cultures. I want to explore beyond small-town Iowa.
They congratulated me and I saw and felt their pride. I, myself, felt pride for conquering my obstacles and overcoming my frustration. I had more confidence and even though Running Club ended after the 5k, I continued to run with my friends and my renewed confidence. Joining that club aided me to realize that I truly enjoyed running. My enjoyment for the sport influenced me to become a member of the 7th and 8th grade cross country team, along with the track and field team. Overall, my experiences in the Running Club guided my participation in running sports and improved my attitude toward those
I first started Cross Country when I was a freshman. My freshman year I was out for part of the season because of an injury. When I was released I ran my first race and came in fifth place. Since it was my first race to ever run I was very nervous and excited to just run and get it over with. After being out for so long and going back and running my first race and getting fifth place was one of the best accomplishments I admire.
Running has many different aspects of workouts and forms of doing it. Comparisons a lot of people make is that cross country and track are the same thing, but those two sports are entirely different. Both do deal with running, but the differences are very major and they go much as to change the workouts done for the sports. More comparisons that are mostly said that if a runner enjoys long distance running then they also should go out for track since it has long distance events. Even though it has those events it doesn’t change the fact the two are very different.
Imagine watching an army of runners run by you, and many cars trying to interfere with the race. Younger runners are getting frightened, screaming to find “mommy and daddy.” But, why does this keep happening with no one is trying to keep all these innocent lives safe? “Road Marshalls”, or people directing traffic, were in charge of making sure cars had no entrance or interference with the race. Helping out at the Mikey’s Place 5k Fun Run has helped expand my physical, emotional, and spiritual gratitude for many other “road marshalls”.
Since my confinement to my home because of my illness, I was not able to go out to my favorite place in Garfield Park where I have my morning devotion and engage people walking and some jogging. However, I was able to call my neighbor, James, and ask him if he would be receptive to helping me with this assignment and he said he had the time.
The Boston Marathon has always been one of the most popular event that goes on in Boston, now it is also the most remember able event because of the bombing on April 15, 2013. Seven billion, four hundred forty-two million, one hundred seventy-two thousand, two hundred forty-five people are alive today at this exact moment. Are they all the same you ask, have all the same interests? What percentage of people in the world do you meet during your years of life before it's your time to go? And of the people you meet, are they all the same or do they have differences, have those differences affected you? What has opened my eyes to the world and the different people who inhabit it has been my passion for ski racing. Most people think that to ski race or even ski at all you need money. That the people you meet are all the same, white, upper-class, and privileged. Young people that have no sense of manners or respectfulness
Boston marathon and 9/11 attacks is the key victim of the crime and terrorism in United State of America. I believe that in each crime and terrorism mostly committed by the illegal immigrant such as murder, robbery, rape and drug deal. During the 9/11, the terrorists were entered into United State as an illegal because of weakness of boarders and immigration security. Based on the U.S government survey it is conducted that criminal and terrorist first enter as illegal immigrant in the country and they develop their plan. It is very serious issue for each country to prevent crime and terrorism in the country. There are many people have to lose their life because of crime and terrorism attacks. I strongly suggest to the U.S. government to increase
Standing at five feet and nine inches and weighing in at 220 pounds, I was not the typical runner. I was quick on my feet, but at long distances I started huffing and puffing so much I thought I could blow a house down. Since I was a child, I had always been overweight. I was heckled and made fun of, but I stayed strong. It wasn’t until high school, though, that I realized I had a problem. I was obese, and it was no ones fault but my own. I needed to change, and one day I did just that. I got off the couch, put down the food, and I started running. I ran and ran, not stopping for the pain or heavy breathing. I was exhausted, but not because of the run but because of my lifestyle. I needed to change my life, and I started
