Ryan Strayer worked as assistant coach for the Ice Hockey Federation and the Sports Ministry of Turkey. He worked as my assistant with U17, U16 and U14 programs. Ryan also played pro hockey and coached for the Youth Sports Club of Erzurum. The Sports Club of Erzurum (GSK) won 6 National Championships, three international tournaments because of the work Ryan did for us. Turkey beat New Zealand in the U18 World Championship in Auckland in 2015. Sixteen of the players on that world championship team Ryan coached when in Erzurum Turkey. Ryan was a positive role model for the youth players. He was a great leader for GSK club. He led an expansion team to Turkish Super League semi finals. I contribute all our success to the positive influence Ryan
“The big name up there was the MacInnis family. Paul and Brian MacInnis contributed a lot to senior hockey in Port Hood. They were very involved.”

Who is Cam Newton? Well, Cam Newton is a typical 26 year old professional quarter-back. Cam Newton is the role model of many young athletes in today’s society. Cam Newton has a Heisman trophy, BCS championship, and also a rookie of the year trophy under his belt. Cam Newton is now being recognized for being one of the most athletic quarter-backs to play the game, also for his dancing/show boating after good play. Cam Newton has opened many football camps for the young football players in his hometown Atlanta, GA.
In Quebec City, Patrick Roy was born on October 5, 1965. His parents were doing very well in life. His father was a great tennis player as well as an amateur baseball player. His mother was a nationally ranked swimmer for her country. Patrick began his journey playing hockey at the age of six years old. He never started out playing in the net but when the goalie on his local team got hurt, Patrick said he would give it a try and never left that position ever since. An interesting fact was that he loved it so much, at home, he would strap pillows to his legs using them as pads. He loved playing goalie so much, he started playing that position for his local junior and midget hockey leagues. Patrick Roy dropped out of school in the eleventh grade and with the help of his parents he played in the Quebec junior league. He played for the team the Granby Bison’s which didn’t go so well for the team but great for Patrick Roy. What I mean by that is the team finished the season with a record of sixteen to
On May 9th 1965 a leader was born, and that leader was Steve Yzerman. Yzerman was born in Cranbrook, British Columbia. He began skating when he was a mere 3 years old, but was still a little too young to play organized hockey with his older brother Mike, who was two years older. At age 5 Yzerman started playing organized ice hockey, but really couldn’t skate all that well. In fact, his first gino (goal) was scored because he had slipped up in front of the adversaries net and an opposing defenseman bounced the puck off a teammate. Since Yzerman was the closest to the puck, he was given credit for the goal. This was certainly not a foundation suitable for a legendary career.
Three and a half years later, he graduated. After graduating Billy had been offered the job of assistant men’s hockey coach at Fredonia State University in New York which is where he earned the title of the NCAA’s youngest coach ever recorded. Currently, along with attending graduate school Billy is the assistant coach of the Manhattanville men’s ice hockey team. The reason I admire Billy as much as a do, is because he is not someone who lead a perfect life, he is real, he showed me life isn’t always going to go your way and curve balls will be thrown but you just how to power through it, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. I see myself learning from Billy each and every day, he taught me how getting an education and powering through school will soon pay off and open many doors each holding new and exiting opportunities that may never have presented themselves without a strong work ethic, strong mind, and most importantly an education. I live in hopes that one day I will feel as accomplished and proud of myself as Billy does
Tim Howard had become a name that most soccer fans can recognize. Him and his team went to Washington DC to meet with the president. At that time Barack Obama was the president. Tim shook hands with some leaders of today. Obama gave a speech about how well Everton at the Gold Cup. Tim Howard is now a thirty-eight year old pro soccer player who plays with TS and has still overcome many situations in his life, but he couldn’t be the keeper he is today without those
In Canadian history there are many famous people. In my mind Terry Fox is a real Canadian hero. He is a role model to everyone because he didn’t give up.
There were many events that happened in his childhood. He was born in Brantford, Canada. He started playing hockey when he was two. He was outside playing hockey with his friends anytime he could. He went to high school in Sault Ste but he left before graduating. Then he played for jurors, then the Edmonton Oilers ask him to play for them.
Lastly, having Chris McCandless as a role model to a change in society should be known an honored. If we can get people today not to depend on such dire need of technology sights for people to see will open up to minds that there is a whole other world more then technology can make. McCandless didn’t like how citizens lived with little to no risk, and how one really took a deeper to whats beyond the door to your risk. There are many other portions of the world that are worth seeing. McCandless climbed Mt. McKinley and saw what its like to see the world in a different angle. Learning from McCandless its like being taken back to the Indians where they didn’t have technology to help themselves they did it on their own. McCandless went on a outstanding,

The Garrigan Basketball program will be dominating in height this year and excelling with experienced despite being a fairly young team. With no seniors this year the role of team captain falls on junior TJ Schnurr. Schnurr says “This team is pretty special and I thinks this team
Regional camp for the Olympic Development team was in Rockford, Illinois, and they played the Kansas State team. The team was warming up with anxious thoughts. But when the whistle blew, they knew it was game time. Tanner was running back and forth across the field playing diligently, when he got the ball and made a sprint for the net. He raised his foot back as hard as he could and hit the ball forcefully when.. he made it in! This is just one of many significant moments in Tanner Powley’s life. Interviewing Tanner was interesting, and I found out how different we are. I learned that he likes to do soccer, band and a cow is his spirit animal.
Second year as an Under-10 Squirt level hockey player for the New Jersey Colonials ice hockey team proved to be a challenging and harrowing experience that shaped the course of my future hockey career. I was a determined, naïve child with fantasies of playing in the NHL when I grew older. The source of my troubles began with Coach Ruben, a relentless, unforgiving hockey coach. Coach Ruben was in charge of determining the AAA hockey team that I desperately wanted to make. Unfortunately, I would not have that opportunity. My mom, compassionate and sympathetic, guided me through the confusing maze of anger and depression. My dad, a coach and former hockey player, gave me valuable, supportive advice that would change my hockey expectations and
Everyday today's youth are asked what they want to be when they grow up. Some say teachers, firemen, police officers and a large response to that question is a professional athlete. Something that all these professions have in common is that they are all role models to children. Firemen, teachers, police officers have an easy job at doing this; they are after all the people that save children, teach children and protect children. But professional athletes on the other hand have a difficult task assigned to them when it comes to being role models. Professional athletes are not given an option as to be a role model or not. Just because they have a special gift does not make them have
