Abel Fields a 39-year-old resident of a city in California, was convicted under the Stolen Valor Act. He was convicted under that act because he claimed that he was in the military and that he received medals while serving, which is not true. He was found guilty and they sentenced him to pay a fine of $1,000 dollars. After that, he appealed his decision to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, appealing that the Stolen Act was unconstitutional and that the First Amendment had been violated. Fields’s prosecutors argued that “a lie told about oneself and one’s own accomplishments is easier to reverse through other speech. Indeed, in Mr. Fields’s case, an effective way to reverse Mr. Fields’s falsehoods is to simply point out his lie.” Afterwards, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in his favor. Over time, people are starting to see how people, states and even the court violate their First Amendment rights. First we have the case of The New York Times who printed an advertisement where it clearly was accusing the Alabama police department of misdeeds. The police commissioner, L. B. Sullivan sued New York Times and their writers for the advertisement. The case became to be known as the New York Times Co. V. Sullivan (1963) case. After the case went to court, the judgement in favor of Sullivan had to be overturned, and New York Times could not be convicted of libel. What this demonstrate about the right of making false statements is that in order for someone to be

Every legislative session has hundreds of bills introduced in the Mississippi House and Senate, and although there are some bills with merit, there are many others that are pointless, clueless, frivolous, and even retaliatory. Such a bill is Senate Bill 2006, which seems to be a direct assault on the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA). To some people that may not be such a big deal, but after reviewing Senator Tommy Gollott’s bill, his bill comes across as little more than another legislative power play.
COL (R) Christopher Kolenda commanded an excellent group of men and women in combat during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, the 1-91 Cavalry (Airborne) Squadron, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team (ABCT). In 2007 – 08 the 1-91 CAV deployed to Afghanistan, under his leadership and guidance he provided a strategy for his Officers and Senior Non-commissioned Officers. He was able to articulate his vision for successfully accomplishing the mission at hand by building a cohesive team through trust, a shared understanding and providing a clear intent. By providing a clear intent Senior NCO’s were able to implement his guidance and conduct successful missions. COL (R) Kolenda provided mentorship and guidance not only to Officers but also Senior NCO’s; along with CSM Pedraza they were able to trust and allow Senior NCO’s to conduct their duties with little to no supervision. During his command with 1-91 CAV he was able to implement an innovative approach to counterinsurgency by employing locally tailored combinations of armed diplomacy, conflict resolution, personal relationships, and high degrees of leverage, 1-91 CAV dramatically improved the instability in Kunar and Nuristan
Candidate Futch showed he had a basic understanding of the five paragraph order; however, SNC briefed incorrect information during the Situation paragraph of the order. SNC stated that the enemy was currently seen blowing up the bridge and that they were equipped with small arms and IED’s. When really the enemy was known to be in route to blow up the rest of the bridge with no information given about their capabilities. SNC took five minutes to brief his order thus leaving little time to execute. SNC briefed a good initial plan and had candidates start to execute. SNC was the third candidate to get on the wall but was unable to, thus had a candidate from on top of the wall come all the way back down to assist him from the ground. This

The department’s leadership is responsible for providing appropriate manpower and resources to each mission using an increasingly tight budget, while also following strict laws for high priority missions, such as nuclear defense, which mandate both high levels of training and manpower (Air Education Training Command, 2015). Additionally, warfare technology has become incredibly advanced. Due to this complication, the educational and technical requirements for military service members and employees are steadily increasing.

When Halstead was given this mission in Iraq, she never anticipated the challenge she would soon face. She had one year to plan her operation, train and certify her units for deployments and after months of painstaking preparation and training, Halstead was confident her soldiers and unit were ready to be certified for deployment. However, certification had to be issued by her superior, a three-star general recently back from Iraq—and the most challenging boss Halstead had ever encountered in all of her years of services.
