SOME INVESTIGATIONS ON THE CORROSION OF IRON
I.

Introduction
Metals undergo natural destruction that allows a spontaneous deteriorating reaction where they return to their original state from where they are obtained upon contact with the surrounding, particularly when reacted to oxygen. Such phenomenon is known as corrosion (Zumdahl, 1998). This leads the surface of the materials to rust in due time. Usually, this kind of process is electrochemical but is sometimes accompanied by mechanical and physical stress that causes the metal to corrode (Heitz et al, 1992).

Discussion
Metals have become one of the most in demand raw materials man has ever used. Cars, buildings, bridges, and such a like were built through this kind of resources which contributes to the progress and development of a community.
However, a great consequence on the economic status is incorporated in this phenomenon. Since metals undergo corrosion that may result to its inefficiency and inadequateness, billions of dollars are spent just to prevent its occurrence.
It was observed that there are different factors that contribute to the deterioration of metal, specifically on iron which is widely used in different industrial establishments. These are the acidity and basicity of solution where the metal will be immersed or be in contact with, mechanical
