I see the role of the SRA as a team leader, encompassing a number of different duties and responsibilities. The SRA is certainly a leader to not only those on their staff and in their residential community but the entire campus. The role consists of duties such building community within their residence hall through hall programs and activities as well as encouraging tolerance and respect for the other residents and their property. I believe some other duties include being a familiar and trusted first resource for students within their residential hall with academic or institutional questions, and acting as a para-counsellor for students. The SRA is can truly make a difference by the impact they make in their residential community and must be
As a committed member of the SGA/Leadership class, I was taught to lead by example. I achieved missions to instill values of integrity, passion, and service as I cooperated that into my school and community. The class handed me the opportunity to host school-sponsored events while giving me a hands-on, authentic opportunity to learn and develop leadership skills for the future and put the skills learned into practice through the coordination of planning and implementing events. I was nominated to chair numerous committees. Through delegating tasks, working tight-knit with others, laying a foundation for rules, integrity, and values, I earned credibility. My leadership skills spoke "do as I do" and not "do what I say" which enabled others
Which includes motivation, cooperation, consistency, fairness and respect. At some point when you have to deal with a situation, you may have to something that you feel doesnt merit your own personal beliefs.
As a resident assistant, I upheld and am continuing to uphold University Housing’s mission of ensuring affordable, comfortable, secure housing on campus while promoting the academic success and personal growth of the residents. From crisis management to programming for the community, my responsibilities varied to be an enforcer of the policies but also to be a friend to all. I built quality relationships with each of my residents to establish an authentic community among the diverse population. Whether it was simply helping
Every leader has their own strength and weaknesses which is a reason I believe SGA works really well. Everyone is unique and different and by combining these strengths and weaknesses, we make an amazing team. I have improved my qualities and skills by being a SGA leader for the past two years; I’ve learned so many new things and improved as well.
I am applying to be an RA because I enjoy being a role model and a positive influence on others. I have been in positions before in which I was in charge of multiple people around my age, and I really enjoyed those experiences. I believe that an effective RA has strong leadership, communication, disciplinary, and charismatic skills. An RA is in charge of around twenty other students, it is important that they must be their residents’ friend and a big brother/sister to the residents and by having those skills the residents should feel as if the RA is a big brother/sister. In my opinion, the most important skill is communication. If a resident is struggling with a class, a resident is homesick, or just has any personal problems the RA is probably one of the first people they talk to. Communicating to their residents in those times can mean the world to them; just a simple conversation can help improve a person.
In the first step of establishing a plan for impoverished children residing in section 8 communities housing would be to identify the problem. In order to understand a plan that needs to be made for the human rights and social and economic justice for these individuals, there must be an understanding of what aspect of their rights and justice is not already being met by society. After establishing what is the problem, having an understanding of why it’s a problem helps better set up the next step of collecting information on that issue and coming to a conclusion of how it happened to gain a better angle of how to solve it. In order to have an effective advocacy plan, we need to do research on finding out what is not being offered to them that is being offered to other children that are not residing in impoverished section 8 housing. If better and
In my senior year of high school, I became the student body Vice President and discovered what it means to be an influential leader on campus. This experience exposed me to develop an array of qualities that can be utilized in the role of being resident assistants (RA). I have gained insightful knowledge of the intricate details necessary to be a productive leader who guides in an encouraging and supportive way. A gift that I posses is my ability to organize creative and innovative ways to build camaraderie among the people I serve. This is crucial and beneficial because it ensures for a safe and welcoming environment where everyone feels confident to seek assistance when needed. As a representative of this university and myself, I bring a dedicated intensity about infusing change by vocalizing the wants, needs, and concerns of the students to make my school resilience to an environment conducive to learning.
As a DC-CAP College Representative I will advocate on campus centered on the relationship I have established with Housing and Residence Life throughout the years. Currently, I am a Resident Advisor (RA) and a member of Residence Hall Association (RHA) both concerning housing. My role as an RA is to foster the community, provide academic support, being attentive to safety and security of the residents, and to serve as an overall counselor to the residents. Also, as an RA I develop programs that educate and encourage residents to build relationships. Furthermore, as a member of RHA my role is to develop residence hall policies, programs, and be the voice for all residence hall students and address the concerns of all the residents.
As part of the senior management team, assist in delivering a service that meets the physical, social and emotional needs of each individual resident in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. The first reason I want to be a Residential Leader is because I feel like students will need someone to talk to several times while at school and an RL is the perfect person to go to. Students don’t want to go to their parents most of the time because they’re afraid they will disappoint them and they will not look at them the same after they’ve done something they regret. Students also don’t want to go to the counselor on campus because they feel like most of the stuff they need to talk about isn’t that serious, they just need to get it out to someone they can trust. Students trust their RL because they’re chosen to keep watch on their hall, they’re there to protect them when need be and to be a mentor for everyone. RL’s need good listening ears and the ability to take situations and diffuse them and I feel like I have that ability. In high school all my friends came to me for advice and most
Resident Assistants at Marist College are extremely important, as they act as role models, mentors, representations of the college itself, and ultimately friends to their residents. They aid in the adjustment of students to their new dorm and provide advice to their peers in all aspects of college life including but not limited to social and academic acclimation. Resident Assistants have numerous tasks to perform daily and much responsibility; the most important being to make sure that all residents are safe and happy. Through RA programs, meetings and nightly rounds, a sense of community is initiated and fostered throughout the year. Being a RA requires complete commitment of time and energy because it sometimes calls for late nights, sparks
Ever since the creation of the social media phenomena, I struggle with understanding and participating in this digital cyber activity. At first, I was amused with this technology because you can communicate with others faster. I use to compare social media to a digital pen pal. However, it evolved into something much greater, which can have a major impact on social change in a global society. As a result, we are now faced with finding and developing leaders who can use social media to influence change. Moreover, the author argues that there is a gap in competent leaders who can effectively lead change using social media. As leadership educators, our purpose is to prepare students to be relevant and productive members in our society. We are
A position as a Courtyards RA would be a very fulfilling title to hold. I am always striving to be an incredibly active member in my community. However, it is hard for me to reach my full potential in doing so at the apartment I am currently living in. Being an RA would give me an opportunity to build relationships with the people around me while further developing my leadership and collaboration skills. The teamwork aspect of being an RA is also very attractive to me, knowing that I can confide in other RA’s or my supervisor if I need help and I can also be a reliable RA to them. I want to be the biggest help that I can be to my residents, so I will be both responsive and responsible in tending to their concerns. The benefits of being an RA
SGA offers chances for student voice about what is happening here, plans, activities, suggestions, ways so that they can improve in the school. Members in SGA can do all of the things while learning about leadership, responsibility, democracy, respect, and school spirit. The president must be a good role of model and leader, should be able to run the SGA meeting with little helps, can speak in front of groups, ought to listen to different ideas, and is nice to everyone. Vice president helps the president to run the SGA meeting, is in charge of all the subcommittees in the SGA, makes sure announcements are written in posters for upcoming events and more, is well-organized, has good ideas, and is a good leader. The treasurer keeps track of how much money SGA has. If SGA spends on something, it must be reported how much SGA spent, how much is left in their account; he or she should be well-organized, is good in math, can report on SGA fund. Secretary usually takes over a big job to record ideas while people are talking and report back to future SGA meeting with the same notes, must be extremely organized, and masters taking-note techniques. Students who engage in governance activities enhance their knowledge
The nature of an effective a senior leadership team (SLT) will be the topic of this essay. The idea of team work and various models of SLT will be covered linking their roles, strategy, values and pitfalls.
