After the process of making their way back home, both princes end up with fighting with their uncles. In “The Lion King”, Simba fights with Scar and Scar gets killed by the hyenas. Prince Hamlet in Hamlet kills king Claudius with a poisonous knife. Both “The Lion King” and “Hamlet” allows the main character to overcome a moral struggle. In “The Lion King”, Simba must act and be the king of his palace for sake of the animals of the kingdom and his father instead of running from what happened in the past. In “Hamlet”, prince Hamlet must decide to kill his uncle and take the risk of getting himself killed, or to keep the secret of King Claudius killing King Hamlet and live with it for the rest of his life.
Heroes are present in movies, tv shows or games. A “hero's journey” shows a character's journey on gaining the title of a “hero”. A movie or tv show may show a character or multiple characters go through very difficult times but it the end show how they overcame adversity and is now known as a hero. In the Lion King, Simba can be seen as a hero with the challenges he endures and what he overcomes by the end. Simba has many heroic qualities his wisdom, compassion for others, moral reasoning and responsibility makes him stand out above all other characters. Simba as a young lion, was very selfish and naive to many things happening at Pride Rock . His choice to run away at a young age showed he didn't want to face his problems or accept what he thought he did. Simba begins to gain heroic qualities as he is now living his own life in a faraway jungle, he is learning how to be independent, and how to live his own life instead of being in the shadow of his dad, the king of Pride Rock.
The 2016 film Lion, which was first a book called “A Long Way Home”, is a film where a boy named Saroo was separated from his brother in the train station, which leads to Saroo getting on a train taking him thousands of miles away from his family and his home. Saroo, who was only five-years-old when he got lost, had to learn to survive alone in Kolkata, West Bengal. Days after arriving to Kolkata, the city the train left him at, he got admitted into an orphanage, which later turned out to him getting adopted by an Australian couple. But twenty-five years later, he starts to wonder where his first home and family are at the moment. With only his memories, determination, and Google Earth he starts looking and searching where his small
While this is well-represented in the movie, there is still a large amount of deference directed whoever the current king is at the time, excluding Scar. Sarabi, the widowed queen, is also the only one who chooses to speak against Scar before help arrives, but, the same as the rest of the lionesses, she does not actively fight against him. The only reason she defies him in the first place is because he is asking the impossible of the pride. If hunting had been more possible as it most likely was from the beginning, the probability that they would have gone out and done their “duty” is very high. It is common for lionesses to stay within the same pride if it is overtaken by a new male, but it did not seem like the Disney cartoon was looking for too much realism in terms of how prides
This compares to Scar because he did the same thing. He didn’t care that his brother was dead, he just wanted power over everyone else in Prideland. When Scar became king, he left the land to shrivel and die. He didn’t care as long as he was king, and he held all the power. They both turned against their own family so they could have dominant control over people.
When comparing the characters in William Shakespeare’s Hamlet to Disney’s The Lion King, they are similar. Hamlet is a play about a boy who lost his father and had to get revenge on his uncle, the new King and the killer of his father. The Lion King is a movie about a young lion who loses his father and then struggles with his uncle and finding his place in the circle of life. When specifically looking at Scar and Claudius they are similar because they are cruel, selfish, and two-faced.
Similarly, Scar in The Lion King employs Machiavellian tactics to seize power. Scar's envy of his brother, Mufasa, drives him to orchestrate his brother's death and manipulate Simba into exile. Scar's cunning and manipulation are evident in his interactions with the hyenas, whom he promises power and prestige in exchange for their loyalty. Through Scar's actions, The Lion King illustrates how unchecked ambition can lead to betrayal and moral decay. As Claudius consolidates his power in Hamlet, his moral decay becomes increasingly apparent.
The instinct for justice to be served and the idea of revenge to be sought has existed upon us to be a natural part of human nature for many years. Hamlet by William Shakespeare and Disney’s 1994 film “The Lion King” directed by Roger Allers share many parallels between the relationship of brothers, resulting for the seek of revenge and restored order to compare. Green with envy, Scar and Claudius result to murder to achieve victory in gaining power over the thrown. The comparison between Claudius and Cain are evident to portray revenge upon their brothers and later to be exiled With both king deaths, Mufasa and King Hamlet bring meaning and actions to lend hand in the motive to their sons to restore what is right.
Mufasa was the brother that was more extroverted, he had the throne, the strength, and all the good looks. Throughout the scenes in the movie you could see Mufasa had a personality of someone that was a strong, proud, and the dominant ruler of his kingdom. He was willing to protect his kingdom prepared to fight when he thought Scar had challenged him. He did all of that until his death, dying when recusing Simba from the stampede of wildebeest. He puts his trust into his brother who very easily betrayed him. Scar was the more introverted brother, he was much smarter than Mufasa, but didn’t have the looks, and his longing for the throne made him very deceptive. He produced the plan to at first kill his nephew, and then his brother. The first plan to kill Simba was by tricking him into going out into the elephant graveyard to be attacked and eaten by the hyenas. When that didn’t work he came up with the plan to kill Mufasa by not actually having to do it himself, giving the hyenas instructions when to create the stampede in which he had placed Simba right down in the middle of, knowing Mufasa would try to save him, because that is his son. These two brothers were very different Scar had a dark side going on while Mufasa was more of the bright light. One could say the message is that it it is brawn over brains which gets you money, power, and respect in the world we are living in
Disney is known for implementing hidden messages throughout their films. The Lion King, being one of Disney’s most iconic movies is the perfect example of this. In the movie The Lion King, Mufasa is the ruler of the whole kingdom, but his brother scar received the short end of the stick, and a result of this forces resentment for his brother Mufasa. Scar does not fancy being second to his brother, just because of inheritance of the throne. He is very intelligent, and believes he should be ruler of the kingdom. Mufasa, also has a son named Simba, because of the rule of inheritance, Simba automatically surpasses Scar to air to the throne after his father. Despite the unlikeliness of Scar becoming ruler, he devises a malicious plan to become
The antagonist of the movie, The Lion King, is Scar. Scar is Mustafa’s brother and live in a cave where he makes all his evil plots to become a king. He has three evil hyena’s that also plot in the cave with him. His internal characteristics are being dark and gloomy, plus evilness. His external characteristics are him being wild-looking and having neon green eyes.
Another repeated scene was when Scar was located on the top of a rock with Mufasa hanging on the ledge, asking for help. Towards the end of the film, Scar is on the top of the rock, while Simba is hanging on the edge, just as Mufasa did. Both incidents show Scar with a cunning expression, while Simba and Mufasa are filled with fear. This scene shows that someone must die in order for a new lion to become king.

Although The Lion King and Macbeth seems like two different stories. One is set in the medieval era while the other is set in postmodernity, but both displays the similarities of the character’s strategic battle for power. Scar, known as the villain in the movie, The Lion King, committed selfish acts to fulfill his distorted desires. As Simba was at the edge of the cliff, about to be murdered by Scar, Scar snarled at him, “That [is] the way your father looked before I killed him” (The Lion King). Simba leaped up from the side of the cliff, and pushed Scar to the ground demanding him to confess to his crime of killing the king, his father, Mufasa. This quote proves that Scar’s ambition leads him to do ruthless acts, wanting to kill Simba, who was next in line of the throne. These malevolent plots are what fuels the battle of evil against the good. Scar stated to his three murders, the Hyenas, “We [are] going to kill him. And Simba, too” (The Lion King). In the movie, The Lion King, shows that Scar is resentful of the king, Mufasa, and the power he retains. In this quote, he plans a plot on who he wants to kill with the three hyenas to help him finish the deed, which shows his strong ambitions. Another
