The organization I completed my placement at was the Saint Benedict Link Crew. Link Crew is an in-school club or group that is committed to making a difference within our school community. One of the biggest challenges we face in high school is transitioning from elementary school to grade nine, for many kids the changes are very distressing. Link Crew aims to make this transition more comfortable for all students. We recognize how difficult the time is for the student in our Saint Benedict's community and we do whatever is within our power to give comfort and positive thoughts and feelings to these students. Link Crew accomplishes this through multiple events lead by the Link Crew leaders throughout the school year. Our most common event is
I was given the chance to join a program called La Raza Youth Leadership that helps teach latino students
During my high school career, I have participated in a large majority of the clubs available to me, and held officer positions in most of them as well. In both the National Honor Society and Medical Connections Clubs I am a member of two and four years respectively, and was elected treasurer of both for the 2017-2018 school year. National Honor Society has also given me many community service opportunities, including helping with the Night to Shine organization and a volunteering at a local nursing home.
Through this university I have been able to become involved with various student organizations, including CEPA and the PILOT program. CEPA stands for the Club de Español Para Amigos. This club provides opportunities for its members to practice their Spanish speaking skills, meet and collaborate with organizations that support the Hispanic community, and volunteer in areas that support Spanish speaking community. This club has allowed me to combine my love for Hispanic language and culture, and do philanthropic work. As a Spanish major, it has provided me with the opportunity to network and practice the skills that I have learned in the classroom. Another organization I am affiliated with is the Pilot program. This is a leadership program on campus. As a member of this club I attend a variety of workshops in order to receive credit as a certified leader and then a master leader. These workshops cover topics including diversity, skill building, self- improvement, and leadership programs. This organization has allowed me to grow as a leader, and become a more well-rounded
Being a part of that organization kept me out of a lot of trouble and helped me stay
I am honored to be nominated by teachers and fellow peers to become a member of Connect Crew. Ultimately my interest in Connect Crew can be connected to my love in assisting others, however my fascination with Connect crew can be traced way back to my first year. Throughout my freshman year, and especially on my first day at HSHMC I was astonished by the chemistry of the schools community. My first day on campus I was immediately approached and greeted by upperclassmen. I can distinctly remember a very welcoming atmosphere, something I would have never expected going to your typical high school. With this experience, and the help of connect crew I would like to build on the school’s community, and welcome the lowerclassmen into a safe HSHMC
The organization that has been the most impactful since I started college has been Sigma Kappa sorority. Sigma Kappa was the first organization I joined when I got to K-State and in many ways I think it is the reason that I became even more involved throughout the last two years. Being a member of Sigma Kappa first exposed me to other opportunities on campus. One instance in particular is there is a member that is very involved in the Student Governing Association. She often would stand up during chapter dinner and describe different ways women in our sorority could get involved. Her passion for the SGA inspired me to make my own run for a senate seat. Another activity Sigma Kappa exposed me to was the Homecoming Committee, after participating
I am involved in two clubs at Hopkins High School. I am proud to say that I'm part of the We Serve HHS and HHS Responds clubs. We Serve HHS focuses on serving the community through volunteer. We organized the food drive that recently occurred in October to donate to ICA. Currently, we are looking into collaborating with Mr. Allan Law to provide food for homeless people in the Minneapolis area. HHS Responds is a representation of the diversity in our school. It encourages and promotes diversity in Hopkins. That club brought the gender neutral bathrooms into our school and we are currently working on celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. We have discussions regarding politics, race, religion, gender, and many other current topics that affect students
Over the past two years (2014-2016) I have participated in the National Junior Honors Society. As a member, I commit to completing community service and to learning among my peers in order to develop into a superior leader. I have taken part in activities such as fundraisers, team building activities, and several forms of community services such as working in a soup kitchen, daycares and organizing social events. Recently, I volunteered for a week as a vendor at a temple in Tacoma, raising money for the establishment during the Cambodian New Year festival.
I’m proud to be a Summit Charter Collegiate Academy, SCCA, bear. When I first enrolled at SCCA as a freshman, the school was nothing but a small, dull institution that focused on academics and nothing else. There were no sports teams, clubs, or school activities. The public viewed the school as a failure and assumed that it was no place for students to grow and experience what high school is like, but SCCA is nothing like the things people say it is. It may be different from the rest of the high schools in Porterville, California, but SCCA is very unique and is genuinely determined to prepare students for the real world. I aspired to do all that I could to make SCCA a better high school, so I joined my school's leadership team, also known as ASB, during my freshman year. Since the moment I joined ASB, I fell in love with the purpose of the organization. I loved to help out the school, and I loved planning events and activities that helped create a better high school experience for all of the students.
This organization is at many colleges. I was invited to be a part of the organization because at the end of my freshman year my GPA was a 3.1 cumulative. In the NSLS, I go to meetings generally once a month and listen to a live broadcast of a celebrity or public speaker about their story in college or family members story. Listening to the individuals helps me and other members of the society set short term and long term goals for an academic plan. At the end of the year members of the society get rewarded for all the hard work we have done that
Throughout my high school career, I have been involved in various clubs and organizations to help me become a leader in my community. At Auburn High School I took on the role of being a Publicist officer for National Technical Honors Society the first two consecutive years that it became a part of our school. I gained a lot of leadership experience through this club. Implementing a new organization is never easy and takes a lot of hard work and dedication from the leaders of the club. By being a part of a very helpful, dedicated and motivated team, we helped affiliate all the eligible members into the club and in turn helped introduce this new club to the school. As publicist my role in helping the club grow was crucial; I helped in publicizing the clubs various projects and involvement.
At UC Santa Barbara, I joined and served as the treasurer of my school’s pre-optometry club, Envision, and was able to network with peers who encouraged me to work hard toward my goals. I organized meetings for optometry school representatives to visit our club, and also led meetings myself, one of which regarded helping members prepare for the Optometry Admissions
Business & Management: Accessible and approachable yet decisive management style. Organized, facilitated, and ran fundraising activities through YSET Club at high school. Provide reliable, transparent leadership.
Outreach continued to be a major part of my life during my undergraduate years. As a freshman, I joined the RPI Zeta Eta chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta Women’s Fraternity. Being a part of Alpha Gamma Delta gave me the opportunity to serve the community and raise money for our philanthropy, which supports diabetes education and awareness. Throughout the school year, we participate in several philanthropy and outreach events including Volunteering at the Boys and Girls club. During this event we set up some fun interactive activities with the purpose of educating the children about diabetes. In addition to joining Alpha Gamma Delta, I also began to set up study groups with several of my friends because I was grasping my course material quicker than many. Prior to our quizzes and exams, a small group of us would meet in a study room and I would go over practice problems on a whiteboard. Not only did this help me better prepare for quizzes and exams, but it was rewarding see my peers succeed. I decided to serve as a tutor in several of my
I participate in Student Leadership Team at C-Tec. I volunteered at multiple community events such as our annual open house and our schools’ evening of exploration. One of our most important duties is to host student run tours and other events to peak new students’ interest in attending C-Tec. Without our service younger students would never get to experience the unique qualities of C-Tec. I currently have obtained 25 volunteer
