The Modesto Bee is a California daily paper, established in 1884 as the Daily Evening News and distributed constantly as a day by day under an assortment of names. Preceding its buy by Charles K. Leroy "Satchel" Paige was known as the best and fastest pitcher to ever be a part of the Negro Leagues. The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd is a novel that is narrated by the main character, Lily Owens. The novel begins with Lily being at home with her dad T-Ray. She doesn’t have a motherly since she shot her mom when her evil dad was abusing her. After having troubles with the law, she runs away from her city with her African American nanny, Rosaline. Her and Rosaline hitch-hiked to a South Carolina town, known as Tiburon. There they meet two sisters that would change their lives forever. As the reader starts every chapter, they will realize that every chapter starts out with an epigraph, which foretells the theme of every chapter. Every epigraph involves bees, which the author uses as a comparison tool for humans and their interactions with their surroundings.
Volk is a writer for Discover magazine and he follows around Darren Cox who is a 50 year old beekeeper who tries to make a change. The biggest question they are trying to answer is what is killing the bees, and how can it be stopped? Cox’s bees do not produce the amount of honey they used to and he would like to see an answer. Another point they consider is that the bees are not only dying, but they are weakening. He believes that the quality of work that bees put out is diminishing, which is then leading to the decrease in the quality of the honey in recent years. Volk’s article helps display how losing bees will impact us significantly. As far as solving the bee problem it is not what I was looking for but, I will use it as an example of what needs to change.

The book was about a girl named lily and how she wants to know more about her mom and wants to run from her father T. ray. In the book their is a well developed character named June boatwright. June was going to have a wedding and her fiance left her at the alter. August , sister of June took care of a little girl named Debra Owens during the time of segregation. Since june was born during this dark time I believe that she distrusted every white person that she didn't know because most were racist during this time. Due to the segregation and the distrust she had it was hard for her to trust white people like debras daughter lily and for her to gain confidence to marry again.
Member of the Olympia Beekeepers Association (OBA). As an active member I took part in the negotiations that arranged for the installation of bee hives at the Olympia Airport. My outreach group and I, working on a pollinator awareness project, installed two hives and have been maintaining them for two years. Our current collaborative efforts with the airport are advancing an auction to donate our honey proceeds in support of a local woman’s shelter. I developed and facilitated a Pollinator Awareness briefing for the Squaxin Island Tribe’s Community Garden team. I have also, for the last two years manned the OBA Grays Harbor Fair both promoting pollinator awareness and education in our community.
Pickton could have been stopped earlier if it wasn't for the negligent of the police. Crimes investigators were conscious of Pickton’s violence and appetite for prostitutes. In March 1997, Pickton was charged with attempted murder of a prostitute, who escaped the pig farm in after she was repeatedly stabbed by Pickton. However, the charges were dropped after finding out that the prostitute was a heroin drug addict. No help was given to the prostitute so that she could testify in court and let the Crown bring back the charges.

Ah Christmas/Winter. The time of the year marked by the sound of joyous carols , cheerful talk of holiday plans, skating, candy canes, turkeys, family dinners, christmas sale signs plastered in front of almost every store, jesus coming down from the heavens, crappy nativity art and the general feeling of togetherness. But also as not being recognized by most people the one time of year when bee colonies are suppose to begin to healthily dwindle in numbers. As part of of an healthy ecological cycle, many wild & domesticated bee populations decline a bit in number during the winter season only to revive themselves later in the spring/summer, but that hasn’t been the case for many years. Ever since 1998 beekeepers have noticed significant drops in bee populations, throughout all seasons. In 2011, Canada saw
For those that don't know, the current name is short for Metropolitans. However, this name wasn't always a clear choice. In 1961, Owner Joan Whitney Payson suggested "the Bees' for a name (among others).

The Supreme Court, on June 25, 2012, has banned the sentencing of life in prison without parole for a juvenile who have committed murder. According to the Supreme Court, the act of sentencing life in prison without parole violates the eighth amendment which bans cruel and unusual punishment. The ban only applies to people of under the age of eighteen years old. The purpose is to prevent children under eighteen to be tried as an adult in court. Not all justices agree with the ban, four of them disapproves of it, claiming it is “the will of American society that heinous crimes committed by juveniles should always be punished with a sentence of life in prison.” I personally agree with the ban but I do agree with the four justices on that American
Research on the behavior of bees oddly resembles that of humans. Some worker bees lay their own eggs, a function usually reserved only for the queen. These worker laid eggs are usually eaten so the social order of the hive does not get disrupted (Luntz, pg.1) “One hive examined showed that worker bees were successful in laying and producing eggs, and also protecting them in areas the queen was excluded” (Luntz, pg.1). This works as an advantage by furthering generation when they are endangered, but also a disadvantage to the world, because bees are busy reproducing, when they should be pollinating the Earth (Luntz, pg. 1). Genetically altering the beehive, is needed to maintain a healthy genome and successful hive. The honeybee genome was finally
Jim and Jan Nesti have been in the bee business for years and their bees aren’t dying. To keep their bees safe they had to know what’s killing the bees.
One of the times I went to Pet Co in Rockwall there was an elderly lady. She was extremely tiny, and fragile looking. I looked around her and saw a gargantuan dog! It was a beautiful husky with gold and white fur. That woman had that dog on a leash attached to her wrist. I thought to myself... she can't handle that dog on her own. Could she? The answer was...
