This is a brief introduction about the place where I’m living at this moment: Salt Spring Island.
I will talk about the Island and the people as far as I am able, given my short residence here (I just arrived 4 months ago).
The Island is located in the Gulf Islands, in the Juan de Fuca Strait between Vancouver and Victoria in British Columbia, Canada.
Warm weather, virgin nature, beautiful beaches, and colorful people make this place very unique.
The most recent census of the island reports almost 10,000 permanent residents. This number increases during the summer with lots of tourists and temporary residents.
Most of the people who moved to the island in the 60’s and 70’s were peace activists: U.S. draft dodgers refusing to serve in the

It`s a good place to discover yourself, thus many visitors come to get inspired by the people living here. There is a special healing energy that you can breathe in everywhere.
The cultural life is surprisingly rich for such a small community; there is a film festival in March, many concerts and events at the Artspring, a modern theatre. The cinema is located in an old Church, which is very charming.
There are very interesting and open-minded people to talk to everywhere: in the coffee shops, waiting in the post office line, or walking on a beach.
Saturday’s Market is always well attended by locals, tourists and even people from other parts of BC; you can find incredible produce there as the island has more than 110 farms, most of which are organic. Moreover, artisan cheeses, breads, beers, and specialty foods can be purchased from the local artisans. Paintings, sculptures, woodcarvings, pottery, jewelry, bees wax candles and handmade clothing are also available for

Wakulla Springs is one of the largest and deepest freshwater springs in the world. The spring flow rate is about two hundred million gallons of water a day. The water flow of the springs develops at the caves of the Florida Aquafers. The water then forms the Wakulla River and flows 9 miles southeast. After flowing 9 miles the Wakulla River joins the St. Marks River. The St. Marks River then empties out into the Gulf of Mexico at the Apalachee Bay. Part of the Wakulla Springs water system is the Wakulla underwater cave system. The Wakulla- Leo Sink cave system is the longest underwater cave system in the United States (Friends of Wakulla Springs).

Providence Canyon, is located in Georgia's southwest. The canyon was officially named a state park when the government did not want to name it a national park in 1971. There are a few reasons why Providence canyon should be named a national park. This canyon has many different types of sand and rocks with in it, which could be used for education in science. Trips could be planed by schools to take students and study the rocks that are their. Also by making it a national park tourism will be raised and the people could spend money in local businesses. Providence canyon was a dense forest before it was a canyon. Farmers in the early 1800s started growing cotton in that area, they cut all of the trees and plowed to plant seed. They planted with long straight lines, which started the events

Captiva Island is one of the most beautiful barrier islands in Florida with 15 miles of unspoiled beaches covered with shells, over 20 miles of bike paths, more than 45 varieties of fish, and 230 different types of birds. In 2019 the government of pennsylvania is deciding to close 3 mile island. I have to disagree with the decision they are making to close Three mile island. They are making a huge mistake and I don't think they realize that. Power plants are taking over the world to create energy. Fossil fuels are not the way to go if the government wants to do that. Basically fossil fuels were being used used since like the 1900s and we use a lot of it and people don't understand that fossil fuels are bad for us and if we run out and we don't calculate it right then we will be stuck with nothing.

Even though the island was beautiful, it was also very scary. Just walking down the street we saw someone almost be ran over by the crazy drivers there. The thing that made me nervous was the fact that almost all of the cars looked like they had been in a crash. We were walking down a busy street and were almost plowed down while walking on the sidewalk! Another thing that made it dangerous what that there wasn’t
It’s a big tourist attraction for many families and travelers from the States. It became a coffee capital not too long ago once bought and then used for advertisement. Lots of people tend to take selfies with the popular sign which clearly states, “Population 1”.
It used to be a small fishing village and became the most visited beaches in Puerto Vallarta.
There are only about 600 year-round residents on the island, but tons of vacationers and summer residents add to the population the summer.
