Sam Walton: Entrepreneurial Genius and Creator of Wal-Mart Dedication, risk-taking, empire-building, and world shaking; words that describe a man that changed this world. This man is not any ordinary man, but a man of vision and hope; a man that started from nothing, and if alive today would be worth more then Bill Gates. Sam Walton, creator and founder of Wal-Mart Incorporations, shaped this world. “From his birth on March 29, 1918 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to his death in April 6, 1992 at Little Rock, Arizona” (“Sam Walton” NNDB), Sam Walton changed this world both for the better and the worse by providing such cheep goods to people around the world. He helps the communities that he movies into, and he gave drive to the people that worked for him, but like all good things, they must come to an end. In 1992 Sam Walton passed away from Multiple Myeloma a cancer of the body’s plasma cells (Walton and Huey p. 329). Before his death in 1992 “he was honored for all his hard work and pioneering efforts when he received the Medal of Freedom from President George Bush” (“Wal-Mart Founder and Billionaire”). His wife however felt that Sam’s dream should live on and she continued to run the company with her sons and daughters. Her goal was the same as Sam’s because they were so in tune with each other, they both wanted to pervades the world with cheep goods that the common man can afford to buy, and we see now that her legacy lives on as well. With Helens passing in April 19th, 2007, she left in her Will, $15 billion to help with needy family’s and support groups alike. In today’s Wal-Mart world, both Sam and Helen live on as the people that changed this word in the eyes of a consumer. The middle man now has the opportunity to buy goods that would normally be expensive to buy. (see the Wal-Mart Smiley Face(“Wal-Mart Smiley Face”).) Now Sam and Helens children are the proprietors to Wal-Mart industries and currently run them.
