Samantha Stebleton Dr. Fraley English 1510 3/10/14 “The Hunger Games” The book “The Hunger Games” is focused on a very structuralist society, the meaning of death, and mental capacity of humans to survive and will give people modern ideas to discuss. When the author Suzanne Collins wrote “The Hunger Games” she wanted people to be fascinated and at the same time open there eyes to possibilities. In this book she accomplished her goal, with her talent at writing. The book is very exciting and makes the reader contemplate many of sociological implications of the story line. The two main characters are Katniss and Peta. The other main character would be the president who is known as Mr. Snow. He absolutely has all control and he lets his…show more content…
In the U.S citizens do not like this kind of government and enjoy having there freedom. There are countries with a totalitarian government and these countries are known to completely destroy any social or political party and take over. The man or women in charge of these governments have complete control of society and its people. If a person were to disagree with the ruler then he/she can take any property that the person owns (Brzezinski 751-763). People in America should read this book for the fact that they will have a better understanding of how governments are different countries. The character Mr. Snow runs his country this way. There is a scene in the book when at the end after Peta and Katniss win that he is not pleased and will do anything in his power to have only one tribute. This is how the book relates with totalitarianism. He will do anything in his power to keep the people scared and enforce his rules so that he stays in control. The audience will be more appreciative of what we have in this country. A lot of people are interested in what is going on outside of our country and will enjoy reading about how the book precedes totalitarianism. If a person enjoys politics then they will enjoy reading this book. While this book is fiction and people enjoy many freedoms in this country, in other countries totalitarian governments, Death, and the struggle to survive are a daily reality. For instance in the
