Agency Analysis: I engaged in providing service to older adults at “The Place at Pooler”. This is a self-owned, assisted living facility, which offers long-term stays and short– term rehabilitation care. They have three different locations, The Place at Deans Bridge, The Place at Martinez, and The Place at Pooler. The facility I went to in Pooler has a hundred twenty–two beds. They have private rooms as well as semi-private rooms available. The facility has shower rooms located on each the patient’s hall that are equipped with showers and whirlpool tubes for their residents. They also try to make the resident fill at home, so in their facility they have a media room, dining room. Their residents also have access to the beauty and barber service, and housekeeping and laundry service. The activities planners at “The Place at Pooler,” take their residents on field trips, and have recreational activities for them. Their residents also have access to the beauty …show more content…
However, she seemed very interested in finding out what was going on with me. She asked what was going to school for, and why was I volunteering. In addition, she wanted to know if I was from Savannah, to see if I knew any of her grandchildren. I never met them any of them, I just knew about the schools they went too. I really like the one-on-one times I had with the senior citizens there. In addition, I learned more about senior citizen’s social habits from participating in this project. In class we talked about some of their social issues on how they may become disconnected to the society, and I notice most of them know what’s going on in the world since they watch the news. On the other hand, there are some that don't and always talk about the past. In addition, those senior citizens just would talk to you about events in the past, and never mention what going on in society
The care home needs to have staff that are trained and have a Health & Social care qualification. Also staff must not discriminate the religious/ cultural values of the service users. The manager of the care home also needs to consider female staff looking after bathing/ dressing the service user who is also female, because the female service users will prefer a female staff. This will respect the dignity of the service users. Staffs must be encouraging service users

The agency I selected is not part of a bigger organization, therefore, I selected this agency. I believe it can provide a more personal experience for its clients and that there is no a “Standard” way of helping clients. Because each client has different needs. What makes Nevins Center different from any other group is the center was founded by a group of parents who were determined to improve the quality of life of their developmental disable children as they grew into adulthood. Nevins Inc is a Non-Profit organization, therefore, solely relies on government funding and charitable donations. When asking questions regarding the agency I stick to basic questions. I have been trying not to ask confidential questions. What I found challenging
There were small sheets of paper in each resident’s room, saying what their favourite things are, what they used to do, about their family and life, which was very touching for me to see the preservation of dignity throughout the facility. Although these write-ups were in everyone’s room it was as if there was not a human laying in that bed. It was like they were all mannequins and there was an indiscernible race, the focus was shifted from the individual to the completion of task at hand. Many care aides would have conversations about their weekend, or talk about the resident right in front of them. Some residents could hear and some could not, never the less,
Within, this home there is two female residents and one male resident each of the residents are in there late 60’s or 70’s; the live in caretaker is also a female. This home is aimed for elderly adults with disabilities. Like stated earlier this is a three bedroom house it is two levels within the house is the living room, kitchen and outside is the patio and garage. Furthermore, each resident has their own bed, television, desk area, closet and more. Each resident is allowed to decorate their room as they please. For example one resident has a rocking chair, pictures, antiques, and Green Bay Packer gear all over her room while the other resident’s room are just plain with some picture hung up here and there. Also, the house is wheelchair accessible since one patient is handicap. This home also has different procedures for fire drills just in case anything happens its three different escape doors.
At the open house, I got a chance to have an engaging conversation with some currently attending seniors [Nilay, Patrick and Celine] at the academy, and as we talked I felt that I could really relate to them, whether it be in terms of interests, hobbies
The information contained in this report was gathered in a private nursing home over 2 weeks that for the sake of this essay, be called “facility x”

Residential and personal care facilities provide supervision and assistance but not medical or nursing needs. These facilities services are not provided but licensed professionals but rather paraprofessionals. They avoid taking in individuals that have severe disabilities but will consider taking in individuals that have mild mental dysfunction (Shi & Singh, 2015, p. 400). The facilities range from basic to deluxe and the deluxe facilities are often paid out of pocket privately. Social security and other government funds can be used as the payment for these facilities for those on a fixed or limited income. The basic services included here are laundry, housekeeping and daily meals.
The lack of attention to the aesthetics of the facility not only created a depressive feel, but also created sanitation issues. Caroline described the staff often placing soiled linens and used bed pans out in the hall for hours without being attended to. For Caroline, this exacerbated the painfulness of this already emotional transition for her when she first arrived. And even though Caroline’s room was cleaned by the staff prior to moving in, it still presented as dirty and with a foul order. The food at the nursing home was unappealing and often leads to the decrease in appetite of most of the residents. In addition, the fact that Caroline was the only female client posed a threat to her development of a support system and created an uncomfortable environment.
Assisted Living Homes are designed to provide residents with basic everyday assistance. An important aspect is that assisted care facilities provide a safe and comfortable environment for older adults who need assistance with duties such as bathing, dressing, shopping, cooking, grooming, arranging doctor’s appointments, medication administration and laundry services. These facilities have social and recreational activity programs designed to keep the residents active. The recreation groups provide residents with activities for enjoyment, exercise, and interactions with others to build character. Special activities such as luncheon,
