From a young age, I was drawn to the healthcare field, not because the amount of money doctors, nurses or other health professionals made, but because of the dedication and commitment I saw on their faces helping someone in need. As a little child becoming a doctor or a nurse was the ideal profession my parents wanted for me. I had high hopes that one day I would become a nurse. However, that dream came to a halt, when I decided to pursue other endeavors within the healthcare field. Spring 2015, my first year of nursing school was not as successful as I anticipated. As the semester came to an end, I considered transferring to another university to complete my studies in nursing. I had to make a tough decision whether I should continue nursing school or pursue another degree. However, with careful thoughts and considerations, I stayed at Eastern Kentucky University and major in public health. I was determined to complete my Bachelor’s of Science …show more content…
Pursuing a master’s degree will give me a great opportunity to focus on community health, where I can use my knowledge gained through coursework and experience to promote health and prevent diseases within a given population. I am determined to be the voice for the ones without a voice and advocate for those that needs the support. Looking at persons who have no home, no food, no one to love them really hurts me deep inside. Seeing children being mentally or physically disabled and being teased or ridiculed by others brings tears to my eyes. Hearing or seeing someone cry out in pain, pierces my heart; and although I know not the total pain and agony that they suffer, I also feel their
After graduating Anacortes High school I plan on attending a four year private liberal arts university. I will be pursing a Bachelors of Science in Nursing leading to a career as a Registered Nurse. My main interest is a specialty in pediatrics. Following a month stay at Children's Hospital after enduring emergency surgery and a difficult recovery I decided nursing is what I'm meant to do. The nurses inspired me, and I hope that I can help a family and child in the same way that they helped
My ambition is to graduate St. Francis College as a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s degree in the upcoming years. Although majoring in nursing will not be easy, I feel I am prepared for the challenge. At this time in my life I cannot see myself majoring in anything else. As a young girl, with a mother working in the medical field, I was always fascinated going to work with her. Working in a doctor’s office these past two and a half years myself has given me much experience with patients and has made it more to clear to me that this is what I want to pursue as a career. I wish to be a nurse because I seem to get a feeling of warmth and internal satisfaction when helping those in need. I have begun to learn that medicine is not the only cure for people’s ailments. It is the care they receive by those around them whether it is in a hospital, nursing home, or even their own home. This is where I believe that I can make a great difference in people 's lives by helping them recover.
Ever since I decided that I wanted to become a nurse, I have hoped to obtain my degree from the School of Nursing at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. For me, the way the U of M nursing program exposes its students to a combination of typical classroom setting and actual hands on learning is something that is exceptionally appealing. Also, the Ann Arbor campus is a highly accredited school known for its exceptional medical studies, programs, and overall campus life.

Nursing has always been a passion of mine ever since I began working on the Pediatric unit at the University of Arizona Medical Center. I thought by interning here, I would make a difference in someone’s life. However, those kids and family members were the ones who had the biggest impact on me. These kids taught me the importance of perseverance during difficult times which gave me the motivation and passion to work hard in my courses to get a 3.7 gpa.
Capstone Essay Two I completed my 96 hours of capstone experience at Cass Lake Indian Health Services. Although I did not originally pick this location for myself I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I was able to see a lot of minor things, likes sore throats and coughs, and a few bigger things, like chest pain and hypoglycemia. I feel like I have learned a lot over the past couple of weeks and been able to do things that I might not have been able to do at bigger hospitals like initiating IV’s. This experience has showed me that my passion really is for the ER/ Urgent Care setting.
In 2003 during the last semester of nursing school, my life was devastated as my ex-husband was arrested as a serial rapist. This was overbearing and I thought this as being impossible to recover from. A breaking point came as I approached a red light deciding whether to deliberately run my minivan into oncoming traffic with my two young children to end our lives. Only days later, I once again felt that I was at the lowest point in my life as the reality of this event truly hit during a medical-surgical examination.
Miss Judy is the Quality Assurance /staff educator/infection control nurse at the skilled nursing facility where I work. What is most fascinating and admirable about Miss Judy is that, she has 3 job descriptions that she manages to multitask on a daily basis. I really commend her for what she does because I have seen her work relentlessly in a dependable manner. She is a nurse leader I greatly admire and aspire to be like.
My initial interest in nursing began from my experience with my grandmother. It was in the fall of 2007 when my grandmother was sent to the hospital due to hypernatremia. My dad would pick me up every afternoon from school to visit my grandmother. I was given the responsibility to look after my grandma for nearly two weeks that includes in feeding her, assisting her, and other light duties. What fascinate me during my visits in the hospital were the nurses who assisted and took care of my grandma. They treated my grandma with dignity, kindness, compassion, courtesy, respect, understanding, and love. Their commitment, professionalism, dedication, determination and skills inspired me to pursue a career in the medical field. From that point, I realized that nursing is a field that enables people impact other people’s lives and make a difference. At 9 years old, being a nurse was a childhood dream and now I am at the point of turning my dream into reality. I want to study and pursue my dream registered nursing at Ryerson University that offers a nursing degree program that focuses on developing student’s critical thinking skills, ability to analyze reflectively and apply theory through community health focused practice making Ryerson one of the best nursing schools in Canada.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to work in the medical field. From performing imaginary check ups on my community of dolls as a child to watching medical television shows, being able to enter the workforce with the skills to start a nursing career has been my most desired goal from a young age. When it comes to achieving that goal, hard work, dedication, and my lifelong passion for pursuing nursing will get me where I need to be in order to successfully complete Davenport University’s Nursing Program.
My interest in nursing sparked when I was twelve years old. My grandfather suffered from terminal cancer in which I had the privilege to care for him on a few occasions. This precious opportunity ultimately led me to pursue a career in nursing. I graduated from a Diploma based nursing program seven years ago and am currently enrolled in my final semester of Bachelors of Science Nursing degree. Working as a registered nurse has opened up many opportunities, but has not satisfied my thirst for furthering my education.

As a novice nurse, fresh out of school and excitingly concluding my orientation on a busy intensive care unit, I have felt a range of emotions throughout my experiences as a preceptee. The most frightening moment of all was to embark on this journey not as a student nurse, but as a “staff nurse”, especially in the ICU. I have anticipated this transition to be long and difficult and rightly so; however, I quickly came to realize that an amazing preceptor is not only crucial in this expedition but completely necessary for my sanity. With that being said, I would like to highly recommend Megan Brown, my preceptor for the last few months, as she put forth her application to advance in her career development pathway at PinnacleHealth. For the duration of my orientation, I found Megan to not just be a preceptor, but a colleague, friend, and thankfully a mentor who has provided me with a safe learning environment free of judgment.
Helping people, or connecting to people even in their most vulnerable state has always been enjoyable for me. I have always been an empathetic person, putting others needs before my own. Because of this, I plan on furthering my education by attending a four-year college and pursue a major in nursing. This will help me better my skills in the long term and enable me to do something that I will enjoy. Although, one can’t deny how hard it is to obtain a degree in nursing but I believe that in life, the sky’s the limit and no matter how difficult our aspirations are, we should truly aim for them.
My aspiration to become a nurse developed during the time of my mother's illness when I observed seeing how the nurses involved treated and cared for her. This really inspired me to pursue a career as a nurse. In the future after completing my degree I plan to enroll in the Royal Air Force (RAF) as a Nursing Officer, I have decided on this career path after talking with members of staff at my squadron who have given me great confidence that this is the right route for me to take as I want to join the RAF as I have a passion to care for those at home and abroad in war zones. My passion for caring for people contributed to the work I have carried out in my local community such as volunteering with the guide dogs and fundraising for charities. Working with the blind and partially sighted was challenging as I wanted to ensure I kept their dignity and respect at all times.
