A courageous action most often is associated with reaching a goal or task of importance, despite the dangers even risks associated with it (“Courage”). For any specific act to be considered truly courageous it must be reasonably thought about and determined that the goal is well worth the risk or danger (“Courage”). Courage so often can be put with words such as heroic, and bravery although with courage there can be a fine line between courageous acts and plain foolishness. All this can make people believe that courage only applies to physical actions. Today in society there are many individuals who can be described as heroic because of their courageous actions towards helping others. People who do not believe in heroes today do not see the change happening around the world for the benefits of future generations. Heroes both present-day, historically, and fictionally are decorated with such things; but I ask – what if there’s a hero presented without any of these “heroic qualities”? Do you believe they even qualify as a hero anymore? He then crawled in and pulled the man's belonging and the man onto his boat. If it wasn't for the sheriff pulling the man onto the boat. If it wasn't for the sheriff then the man would have more than likely died. The sheriff is a hero and showed his courageousness by climbing into the vehicle to save the man.

It is imperative that both ancient and present day heroes exhibit courage, or the ability to do things other people cannot. Many people have fascinating qualities that are admirable and interesting, however, I have a notion that courage is the most important virtue a human can possess. His younger brother Mark Langan often compared him to Robert Oppenheimer, a physicist famously known for the development of the nuclear bomb in World War II. Chris however, did not have the determination to become a famous physicist. He was kicked out of college more than once for unnecessary reasons and eventually gave up on his education. The sniper however, was a soldier and did not fear death. He used his wits to fool the other sniper and managed to buy time for his escape except it did not pay off in the end as his brother was his enemy. So, in both stories courage is brought up as a description and almost like a goal for both characters. This trait is a prime example of a quality required to overcome adversity in life.

Heroes are not only people who say what everyone else is afraid to say, but also those who do what everyone is afraid to do. Just saying bold words does not make you a hero because actions speak louder than words.

There were and are many people who are courageous and have changed our world completely. Like Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr. and many others. To be courageous means to be smart, strong, and fearless. There are and were many people that are very courageous. They did many things for people and stood up for their right, even if they were going to get in trouble for it. Those people are heroes.

Heroes act a certain way that people may not always take into mind. Heroes are always very determined, but humble and modest. They put others before themselves and keep their minds on their goals and never give up on what they’re doing and what they stand for, even when risks are involved.
